He managed to do what alot cannot and that's to surpass the ring and make himself pretty much a house hold name, at times a catch phrase. A great entertainer but late on he was living on that alone. Rewatched the Solis and Mancini fights a couple of weeks ago. Nice little scrap the Solis go. I actually had the Mancini fight razor thin. Camacho for me was loath or love at certain points. His go with Baltazar sticks, he really was sharp. He talked so much shit before Chavez and came up limp. The Haugen fights were not bad at all, nice little rivalry. I thought Greg took it by a couple and Haugen literally suckered him into punching just a bit cheaply with ref trying to have a meeting at the United Nations moment. Hate the Leonard "fight". Nothing to be proud of in beating down a ghost of a ghost of a great.

Good summary. The Leonard fight was pathetic, amazing to see how shot Ray was all of a sudden. I mean he was SHOT.

Funny thing is that Camacho fought Sugar Ray Leonard and Oscar De La Hoya in the same year !!!

The beating Hector Camacho gave to Leonard was fantastic, best thing he did for a long time.

because Leonard made a career of trying to beat shot fighters after his comeback win against Hagler which included Hearns, Duran, and Lalonde. Glad Terry Norris bust his ass too.

no, Leonard made a career of beating guys in their prime which included Benitez (TKO), Hearns (TKO), Duran (TKO), and then Hagler (Decision), he himself was shot and had one good eye when he fought Hearns in the rematch, Duran in the 3rd fight and Lalonde

Read what I write carefully I know Leonard was a proper ATG fighter. I said after the Hagler fight. He fooled the judges to beat Hagler, he stole a draw against Hearns, won the fight on the scales against a limited and one armed Lalond and beat a old Duran. I was happy when he got what he deserved fighting a peak Norris and an old Macho Man.

I know, that will be debated long after we're dirt but just say that a few times...off a long layoff. Quality.

Not like Duran was any less used goods when Camacho beat him...seven and what, ELEVEN years later Hey Camaco had to finally beat an elite name before he himself retired, why not get them when they were collecting from AARP and spooning applesauce
