I saw Barrera on Saturday and am seeing him again tomorrow so I can ask him then.
obviously Barrera would be ruled out cause if he was the greatest technician he wouldn't have been beaten by the likes of a one dimensional Manny Pacquiao or Junior Jones, and wouldn't have gone life and death with Juarez

as for John he's best known for being a very technically gifted fighter, which is what compensates for his lack of power, and Norwood was an undefeated fighter at that point

I didnt put Barrera in there. You did cuz you got defensive when I ruled out the man who couldnt beat Norwood

I'll see Barrera tomorrow and ask him how it felt beating Morales for a second time
ask him how it felt to have Morales beat not one but two men whom he himself couldn't get it done against, although he was given a rematch against both , and how he feels that it was MORALES and not him who became the FIRST Mexican to win titles in 4 weight classes
Handed a title against a bum after being owned by a Kotelnik leftover? Yeah your the only person the world that thinks that paper title means anything.

I'll ask Marco how it feels to get KO'd in 3 rounds whilst winking and quitting and in the process shaming your entire nation . . . . . on second thoughts I'll have to wait until I meet Morales to ask that
wasn't it you who was trying to play up Barrera's attempt at an interim title as a go at an ACTUAL world title? lol I can look up the damn thread cause it has to be somewhere on here lol

Morales might have quit against Manny but it wasn't any worse than Barrera running from him for 12 rounds with his dick between his legs, speaking of which, who has Barrera fought since getting the blood bath against Khan? name one decent opponent, oh right he's fought two bums and struggled against one of them as for Morales he made Maidana (the same guy who should have got a W against Khan and Kotelnik) fight for his life....with one eye, and is set to fight Garcia who's undefeated, 12 yrs younger, and actually ranked, unlike anyone Barrera is ever mentioned to be taking on these days
Another question I have for Morales is " How did it feel to get in there with David Diaz and come out a loser "
and his answer would be simple it would be something like this...

here's the dvd cover for Barrera's rematch against Pacquiao...

    Another questions for "el quitter"

How did it feel to be outskilled by the most unskillful boxer in the world Marcos Maidana

that same "unskilled" boxer took Amir Khan to the limit, unlike Barrera who basically got reemed in the ring

I would rate Morales and Barerra better than Marquez. Marquez can't handle the outside style and has to generate his offence off the aggression of his opponent. Ricardo Lopez is the Boxer your looking for if you want the greatest boxer. The greatest fighter obviously was Chavez. Marquez again Naz would have exposed him badly.

Anyone who takes Khan's win over Barrera seriously is a fucking retard. A disgusting fight in so many ways and for anyone to hold that fight against Barrera needs to jump in front of a bus.

I say Marquez is the best because of what he has done over the last 10 years. I believe he has beaten the so called P4P best in the world 3 times, though he was denied by officials each time.

    .
Great post and I agree entirely although in fairness I dont really think that the poster "elterriblemorales" beileves what he is saying about Barrera- Khan. I just think its abit of back and forth banter we have been exchanging for years.

If so then fair enough, but it annoys me to hear anyone talk up Khan's win over Barrera as anything significant. Pacquiao okay, but Khan? Not in a million years. No fighter winning in such a way should receive any credit. It was a farce.

You may have a point about Barrera and Morales being more versatile than Marquez, although it doesn't hold a lot of water when used to contrast the three imo. The only opponent whose style Marquez was truly unable to handle was Mayweathers at welterweight; I see no way Morales or Barrera would've really given a better account of themselves there. A fact that people like to overlook is that JMM is actually the oldest of the three and is only still around because he has much better craft than either of the others did. Physically he is just as shopworn as the other two men, no idea why this gets downplayed really.

Both Barrera and Morales had way longer amateur careers. Longevity is not mainly about age. Think a little harder, what other outside style fighters has Marquez done well against? While JMM is certain a master against the come forward fighters with all guts, Barrera and Morales proved they can technically handle the style. Barrera took Naz apart which is one of the reasons he ranked so high on the all time P4P lists.

I'd have no idea about Marquez' amatuer career; but even so I'd still mantain that his longevity as opposed to the other two can only be due to his craft. Barrera and Morales never beat top opponents once their reflexes started going, theres no real way to compare the men in this manner without giving JMM an edge. And while Marquez indeed isn't suited to face pure boxers, you can hardly claim Barrera has fared any better against come forward guys, having lost twice in his prime to Junior Jones and being obliterated by Pacquiao. Those were arguably the two best punchers he ever faced. I don't see how Naz is really a good benchmark either, especially given the form he was in facing Barrera. He was about as handy an outside fighter as Brandon Rios on that night, can't imagine Marquez or Morales wouldn't have done a similar number on that fighter.

I dunno man, I think thats honestly selling all three of them a little short when talking about outside technical fighters. Who hasn't looked bad at times facing it? How did Morales look vs long outside Raheem or Espadas again? Not so hot at all and very lucky with gift 'W' in latter. All things considered Marquez wasn't exactly bent over with his pants around his ankles vs Mayweather. He ran defensive Gainer nearly out of the ring and back under Roy jones jrs coat tail. The Norwood fights gets just thrown in all the time as a given but it wasn't so cut and dry and had Marquez been "known" and not making his very first nationally televised (ABC) debut contrary to Morales and Barrera on HBO years earlier it very well could have gone his way. He was the unknown....Norwood was the one being billed as the next coming of a sleeper star and he fought like he was playing timid tennis. Marquez was the aggressor and still dropped him twice. Forget the official tallies, it was pretty close.

Gotta agree with P4P on Hamed being the furthest thing from a "technical" type. He wasn't the aggressor or the outside boxer vs Barrera...Barrera just called his bluff, knocked him off balance and didn't fall into traps, kept his head and as was known then and as its clear now, was the much more well rounded and technically sound boxer. History speaks for itself. I have no doubt Marquez would have done the same.
