You put non-Cichlids in with a Cichlid or was it killing it's own kind? Those and tiger fish are the most aggressive fresh water fish I have come across, much more so than piranhas.
It went down like this, I told my wife I would like a fish tank at some point, so she found someone on craigslist selling a tank with four fish, the stand and accessories for really cheap (moving sale type deal).

We picked everything up set up the tank and immediately they started attacking each other whenever they swam close to each other. We started with three convict cichlids and the blood parrot (also a cichlid). Total survival of the fittest, the blood parrot is bigger than my fist so he was in total control. I was considering selling him to a fish store, but it's that whole wife present thing.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

I have a German Shepherd called Arnie, bit of a big brute of a dog, although daft as a brush, he protects the house and garden really well. Only problem we have is now he's older, turned 3 at xmas, all he wants to do is fight other dogs when were out. As a younster he would play quite happily with other dogs, now he just wants to stamp his authority as Alpha male and rip other dogs apart !

Better than my mates dog let some burglars in and did nothing as they stole everything.

Lurcher crossed with a collie called Saphire (Saffi)

Got her from dogs trust. Brilliant dog, hardly ever barks, soft as shit, fast as fook and equally is thick.

Took a ball over the park once and kicked it into a goal with a net, went through the net, big hole. Saffi went looning after it, got snared up in the net, looked like the dog in Gremlins after they'd tied it to the porch with fairy lights.

She also throws herself into water any opportunity she gets. Great on nice walks out in the wilderness or at the beach, not so great walking back from the dog groomers passing a boating lake.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

My dog Biff has thwarted 2 burglaries (that I know of)....he might be a chicken shit but he's very skeptical when it comes to meeting new people, so skeptical in fact he won't take treats from the tellers at Pet Smart or through the drive through windows at fast food joints.

He's got a huge bark on him and when he gets his scruff up and shows his teeth he could take a LARGE bite out of crime if given the opportunity.

He's very athletic, can sprint and jump like a motherfucker. I believe he's a Plott Hound mix, but I sent away for one of those doggy DNA kits and they said he's: Doberman, German Shepard, Australian Shepard, Black Lab, and something else I forgot.....I could have very easily trained him to be a hunting dog as he's usually very quiet and can sneak up on most anything, he'll also point and I never taught him that, he just does it naturally.

I'm not certain I'll ever get another dog, but if I do it'll be a rescue just like Biff, he's been a brilliant companion.

Off topic, but I really wish I lived in a place that got thunder storms. They're amazing.
Thunder storms are a mixed blessing, you like the rain they bring, but not the floods and tornadoes.

First one I've ever owned. As a kid I always ALWAYS wanted a dog but got different pets because my parents figured I would be irresponsible with a dog....no other animal is more loyal or more special to man than dog, that's why he's "Man's Best Friend". Cats are too aloof and independent....as for smart, all they can do is shit in a box. Dogs are quality, they save people, defend people......

....I mean do you see cats doing that? NO! Cats will actually just be pissed off you left to begin with, they'll welcome you back by crapping in your shoe.

I've got a 3 legged cat. Despite his disability, he still manages to catch mice and the odd bird and bring them home. I don't know how he does it.

Cats aren't for me personally. A dog sits on your lap because he loves you, a cat sits on your lap because he's cold!

We've got a 4 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Trevor and he's pretty awesome. My girlfriend was so anti Staffy (as a lot of people are) but I knew once we'd got one she'd realise that you shouldn't believe all the media hype. She loves him to bits as he's the most loving dog you could ever wish to meet.

I'm not sure what breed of dog has a similar bad rep Stateside? a Pitbull maybe? A dog's nature is a reflection of it's owner, breed is irrelevant.

    Is it's name Matty?
Nah we called him Felix. Original, right? When you shout of him he gives you a look that says "why did you give me this name you unimaginative bastard?".
