    I think for him now its mainly about saving face (and making a pile of cash). This wasnt just your ordinary rematch clause, the deal was more or less made as a 2 fight deal whatever were to happen. I reckon that if this happens he goes into the rematch just to survive and then hides out in Canada for a couple more big paydays.

    Saving face my ass. He fought like a moron and did everything he should not have done. Anybody who has followed the man longer then last week knows this. What do you mean this was not an ordinary rematch clause? And FYI all rematch clauses are two fight deals. That is why they are rematch clauses.
    Hiding out in Canada like Sturm hiding out in Germany, Floyd hiding out in Vegas, Ward in California or Monzon in Argentina etc etc.
    If Froch travels to Canada and does the same thing, there will be no more "big paydays" for Lucian Bute.

    Bute actually landed a couple of really good shots on Froch and Froch never flinched. I'd still be interested to watch a rematch.

    I actually thought he stunned Froch a couple of times with his power, not that it mattered in the end.

    I hope Froch sparks him again in the rematch.

    As long as hes got the fan following he´ll get the paydays. He could fight just about anyone back home in Canada and fill arenas and get the tv deal. And when I say not an ordinary rematch clause it wasnt. Most champions have a rematch clause in case they get beat but this was arranged and sold to the public as a two fight deal regardless of the outcome. Bute expected to win but was still going to have the second fight - it wasnt there as insurance for him. So for him to not take the rematch, or at least admit he doesnt want it he would lose face.

    Bold = semantics.

    Of course it was there as insurance. And insurance for both. They both wanted home field for a fight and because they could not agree they agreed to a two fight deal. Its still a rematch clause.

    Froch will not fight an easy fighter!! He is a modern legend. He will fight Kessler and win then win the wbo and then fight bute again maybe just to finish him off then fight ward maybe win or lose and then he will have his retirement fight against pascal. He doesn't fight weak bums like Calzaghe.

    Froch reminded me of Roy Jones in his rematch after his questionable dq loss. There would be no beating him that night.

    That being said, I don't think bute will stand in front of froch this time around. He will fight a better fight. But having your first loss come as a KO is crushing and I wonder if demons will haunt him when he gets hit flush again.

    Would be totally pointless. Froch is 35. Another 6 months of promotion and training wasted at this stage of his career would be daft, to rematch an opponent he beat with ease. Be like Pacquiao rematching Hatton in Manchester. The fight would be over as soon as Froch lands anything of note. Bute couldn't deal with Froch's power. That won't change regardless of which country they fight in.
