It was a patchy, but more entertaining effort. At least we are likely to go through now. I'm off back to bed. I was up until 5 am watching that one.
Brilliant game and I have to admit Hodgeson's tactics of old defenders and Midfielders with young wingers and strikers is working.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Im off work this week, thought it would be a good idea to go to the pub all day and watch both games. This resulted in me being wankered and pretty much missing the game. I was sick in the carpark so not a total waste of time.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

Just watched the highlights. Not convinced Welbeck meant that, that was a drag down to riffle in with the left I reckon.

It's England so we always make things harder than they need to be. Sweden were nowhere near as threatening as we made them look at times. More patience whilst in possession will reap dividends but the weight of responsibility and nerves, still seem to make us choke at times. They had men in numbers happy to camp in their own half for large parts of the game and the first time we tried something a bit different we tore them apart. Hodgson was spot on with the line up and substitutions but we did miss the creativity that Rooney or Oxlade-Chamberlain contribute, with Gerrard and Parker both fire fighting for large parts of the game. That improvisational flair in the middle of the park gives players a breather and opens up the opposition, as Gerrard did with his great ball to Caroll. Bring on the Ukrainians.
Who expected that then? Russia, who looked pretty good for 2 of their 3 games, are out, and Greece, who looked like dogshit for 2 of their 3 games, go through. Fair play to them.
