I would say the mouth is in gear, well before the brain but he's no worse than most fighters, there again it's boxing not a poetry contest.

Question Re: Behind The Ropes - Amir Khan. Fact.

Well Khan lost, I feel his training camp did not go well, and he was being hit a lot in that sparing session
there were some signs. But well done Garcia, we must remember for all the training and fitness Khan will
never in prove that chin,it's a pity but that's boxing.

The sparring session was pretty telling after all.

His chin let him down but also he was getting countered to easy from the opening round and fighting too much.

After the Maidana fight he had a bunch of idiots telling him he proved his chin now but it was blatantly obvious he would get knocked out again soon if he wasn't more defense minded.

The only good thing about this loss is he'll be fighting back in Britain now (no more 4am bollocks).

Like I said in another thread, this training was all wrong.

Khan is a boxer, sharp hitter with fast hands, so he should be training and sparring to maximide those strengths. He is a bit chinny, so WHY WHY WHY is he sparring like he's in a war. This is one of the reasons he can't fight hurt, he stands in front of his opponent and gets involved in a slugfest every time he is hurt. He shouldn't do it when he's fresh, never mind when he's out on his feet.

You want your sparring to exactly mimic what you expect to do in the ring (so it's different for each fighter you face). That way, you have muscle memory of what you need to do and you can automatically fall back on that if you get your head scrambled during the fight.

Very very poor decision making in training, and I'm surprised that went on at this level. I don't think Roach spent much time with Khan for this one.

Yeah I never believed that sparring session would be this big a factor.

Being trained by a conditioner, in the absence of Roach and having wild sparring sessions instead of working on a gameplan have really comeback to haunt him.

Do you know who I think would be a good trainer for Khan? Adam Booth. He'd have him fighting off the back foot and protecting his chin much more. Unless it's just as simple as Khan cannot stick to a game plan once he gets clipped?

But even still, his conditioner was telling him not to get wild. He emphasized the point and Khans response was something like, "Yeah but it's exciting"

He's just going to be one of those fighters who's ego will just always get the better of him no matter who his trainer is. The best I've seen him stick to a plan was against Kotelnik..but then again, he wasn't a big puncher.

and if you had half a brain as a boxer you yourself would know this.

So he lost because the sparring was too rough.
