I really like him and don't understand all the references to him being a hype job. The dude is gifted and reminds me of the late George Benton. I just don't see a weakness in his game and believe he will be the next big star. People keep bringing up Gamboa. Gamboa has nothing over Broner including speed.

I think most people acknowledge he is very talented. But he has not faced anyone of note (except maybe DeLeon...who some thought beat him) to warrant the "hype." I would like to see him face better quality opponents before anointing him the next great fighter. And his personality is a bad imitation job of Floyd's. If he is going to try and act like an idiot...don't expect people to love him or root for him.

I hear ya and all I am saying is he has the tools from what I can see. As far as facing the talent he should be well that seems to be a trend. Fighters are coddled and kept away from adversity. As far as Ponce goes I think Broner slept on him. Rookie mistake, it happens. I don't really pay attention all that much to ring antics or like or dislike a fighter because of them.

The fight with Demarco should be doable as they are both GBP. If not move to 140 because he's going there anyway.

Mad respect for mentioning George Benton though...incredible fighter and trainer. For those who haven't seen him fight...do yourselves a favor and find the youtube clips.

The flag waving far outweigh his substance is all. Yeh, hype is all part of the game but this one acts like he's already 'arrived', disregards the fight, his opponent, and frankly the audience before he has accomplished a thing. Treats it all like a formality. He and Gamboa actually have alot in common. Both pushed hard, both totally blowing off the contract aggreement(s) and coming in over limit blasting out smaller guys. I'll give Broner a nod for tighter D but he gets touched quite a bit. Respects to Benton but I see alot more Andre Berto. In career pace, some opposition and network hype. Gamboas handspeed being compared to Taylors for crying out loud....Broner literally riding Mayweather coat tails right down to a dumb ass Free Money May T. Its one thing for network cheerleaders to compare and sensationalize an unknown quantity but Broner is just pathetic with it. Its not the antics with me that are the prob, its Broner making a mockery of it all. Knowing he had no intent to make 130 and wobbling in at near 147 once the bell rang fighting a guy who had to shed down in weight. He, Gamboa, Rios among others are taking short cuts and acting like they are something that they are not...great fighters who have really earned the platform. Shut up and fight. Mayweather talks alot of crap but at least he was actually pounding out top notch solid class opponents in Manfredy, Hernandez among others before 23 bouts, and as far as I could tell working his arse off in the gym. HBO needs to rethink this love affair and investment because for no other reason, Broner and Broner himself came withing hours of causing them to shitcan a live telecast, and the sole reason was HE didn't plan to or care enough to meet the requirements. On a rant bud, my bad. Time for decaf

Yeh. He's skilled but he's a babe in the woods. Has alot growing up to do before he gets anointed.

Well said. The fact the he completely disregarded the weight limit is a disgrace. He is barely a proven fighter and he shows that kind of arrogance and unprofessionalism?!

Lol I agree. He could turn out to be another Bojado or Ricardo Williams. Some fans go over the top early. I think he's very fundamentally sound skill wise but have admit to wondering about his indifference and jester like qualities. HBO will never change. That's the trouble with monopolies.
They decide who gets on the air, not the fighters or even promoters.

HBO will keep showing Broner because he has the, for want of a better word, personality to sell lots of PPVs in the future. They need somebody to replace Mayweather's PPV sales in the future and Broner is the most likely candidate, so they'll keep on showing him and hyping him up. Unfortunately that isn't going to help him get his feet back on the ground anytime soon.
