Why could they not go with the breakaway? If it was a relatively flat race and Cavendish had the legs to keep up why let them get away in the first place?

Vos is more of an all-rounder really. Think of like an 800m runner. Cav would be 100m. She can climb ok and decent sprint but not an out and out sprinter. But in women's cycling it's a bit different as they don't have any real out and out sprinters.
