What Fenster said. Vasyl stayed pretty much in first gear the whole fight and still dominated Romero 15-3. Romero suffered 2 standing eight counts.

Verdejo (Puerto Rico) gave Vasyl a stern challenge but ultimately fell short 14-9.

Shit. I just watched that and was practically wanting to climb through the TV set. Nothing to be ashamed of, though. I think they said Lomachenko was (is) undefeated in his last 70-something fights. I think if Verdejo had somehow pulled it off, he would've easily medaled... maybe even gold. But oh well..... Lomachenko IS the real deal.

    Well that was easy money

Serik Sapiyev (Kazakhstan) edged out Lomachenko and a couple of Cubans for the Val Barker Trophy. Impressive feat for Kazakhstan...their 3rd Val Barker winner in the last 5 olympic games.

We never had a moments worry.

I backed the Cuban Flyweight that won gold after seeing his first round (12/1). Personally i'd have gave him the Val Barker.

Serik Sapiyev and Vasyl Lomachenko were equally deserving of the Val Barker trophy. Both fought consistently well and defeated some talented and very determined opponents.

Since Vasyl won it in 2008, I don't mind seeing Serik receive it this year.
