    Default R.I.P. Michael "Dynamite" Dokes

Michael Dokes, Former Champ, Passes Away at 54 - Boxing News

Seems he had his demons to say the least, but its always sad when a former heavyweight champ passes.

I believe I've only ever watched his fight with Holyfield. I'm sure many posters here have fond memories of his fights.

Shocker. He had fast hands and good talent but 80's heavies loved their drugs. His fight with Holyfield was quality. RIP.

Just Googled Dokes and it brought back some memories, specifically the Coetzee vs Dokes fight. His whole career was sketchy, great for a few fights and then not so good. It makes you wonder, it seems like his whole life was lived under a very dark cloud, with lighting ready to strike at any moment. Mickeal Dokes, RIP.

He had a rough go of it....hell of a fighter. Gave Holyfield a tough fight too. R.I.P. Champ

Happened with a good few of the heavyweights of his era....the lost generation of heavyweights really.

Man that sucks. Quality dude with respectable skill but lost alot to the soul sucking substances. Put that war with Holyfield in a top 20 heavyweight scraps for me. Likewise what Ruddock did to him is near one of the scariest Kos you'll see. Be at peace Champ, go easy.

I think Holyfield beat him with better conditioning, it was an even fight until then. Great match and action.

I can't tell if its life imitating art, watching the winner of both fights do the Rocky Balboa jump for joy and roll of disbelief.

Do we all know his history? I dare say not all reading this forum do, and stating this is not the place is like writing an obituary for Hitler and concentrating on his art work, vegetarianism and commission of the Volkswagon beetle.
