When Big George won the HW title at 45 it was one of the worst things that could have ever happened to boxing IMO, because it set a TERRIBLE example for aging fighters. You always hear aging fighters citing Big George and Bernard Hopkins, always thinking "hey I might have one more big hurrah, look what George did" despite the fact that George and Hopkins are the RARE exception, not the rule.
Boxing is a brutal game, and I think guys should be looking to get out well before 40. Sure, people will say with today's advances in the areas of medicine and nutrition (aka PEDs), 40 is the new 30. Yeah, maybe so. But all the advanced nutrition and "supplements" in the world can't protect your brain from the effects of 20-25 years of getting punched in the head.
The fact that boxing allows guys like Toney and Holyfield to fight, guys who are pushing 50 and have PROVEN to have brain damage, is a constant reminder of how cannibalistic this sport can be. I don't see anything impressive or honorable in letting Holyfield go out and get killed by a Klitschko.
A prime Holyfield would have his hands full against either Klitschko, much less this 50 year old shell.
