Also I'm going to buy a new (new for me) PS3 game and I'm trying to choose between Red Dead, Batman Arkham Asylum or Arkham City, & some other stuff...anyone had any experiences with any of those games?
Arkham City should be #1 on your list Lyle, especially if you have any interest in Batman games. I feel it trumps Arkham Asylum by a good margin, far bigger, more freedom, more villains and a better story as well. Tremendous game.

L.A. Noire is a thinking man's game and probably right up your alley. It too features a great story and has lifelike characters and cases to solve. There is no other game quite like it out there.

Someone also mentioned Dead Island and I second that as I felt it was awesome bashing zombies' heads in with pipes, bats, and all manner of blunt instruments.

Myself, I just finished Alan Wake for the Xbox 360 as well as Alpha Protocol, which was a pretty good spy game.

The Godfather was a pretty solid game...Assasin's Creed was good, but a little monotonous. I usually lean towards sports games, but I do enjoy other games. Medal of Honor is solid.

My PS3 has died and will soon be on its way to console heaven. Before it kicked the bucket my stepson was playing the new Batman game on it and I have played the previous Asylum incarnation on the PC. For a fan of Barman like yourself Lyle you should love them, great looking games very in keeping with the dark knights style. Hard Rain is a great experience, a game unlike any other with genuine disquieting moments. If you like noir you'll love it, a bit like being in an interactive Fincher movie. Red dead Redemption is fantastic. I loved the ps2 predecessor and rockstar do a great job of transporting you back to the wild west with a huge open world to explore. If you can be sure to get thr new RedDead which has a zombie version bundled in for free. Uncharted series is very generic and corny but sweeps you along in a blockbuster action movie adventure type of way, popcorn fun brilliantly done.
