If Dawson was in with a puncher last night he would have been laid out cold. He is lucky he was in with Ward.
I dont question Chads heart even though he quit at the end but we all knew it was a stupid decision to drain to 168. Why didnt he know that.
People forget it was Dawson that wanted to fight Ward at 168 when he was calling him out and talking about how he'd hold the light heavyweight and super middleweight titles and how he could make 168 easily.
dawson didn't look any different than he looked prior to the Pascal fight or during it, the difference was he was in with a guy that was a class above. He shut down Dawson in every single way and punished Dawson before he could think about being offensive. Dawson isn't used to having someone dictate pace against him and knock him so far out of rhythm, this is something Ward has been doing for years. He shuts down someone offensively, defensively and mentally. There was nothing Dawson could do once Ward found his openings.
Dawson who said "I make 168 easily and he's the best at 168 "they say" so im gonna take him out and hold both belts" so when the guy loses his excuse better not be "I was weight drained".

Obviously no credit can be taken away from Ward. He fought the bigger guy, and showed lots of heart and skill. Whereas Dawson is another story altogether. Weight drained or not (which he didn't look physically), he had this "look" from the very beginning like he really didn't want to be there. Hardly a jab thrown in anger.... very few punches thrown except in rare spurts toward the middle rounds. He has the size and the skill to have made a HELL of a lot better fight than he did. In comparison, the Matthysse-Ajose fight on the other network was 10 times better. Ajose got knocked out at the end..... but he gave a great account of himself. Dawson has had some great fights, and is still a great fighter.... but there's no excusing his effort last night. Chalk it up to a bad day, but it was still a shitty effort.
Told you guys Ward would have an easy time. Dawson is a flake, he's talented but has swapped trainers every other fight. Ward is steady, not pretty to watch but steady.
Ward is on another level and adapts so well to any style put in front of him. The rumor now is that they want Joe Calzaghe to stop talking shit and put up or shut up against Ward. Also I think the Hopkins fight might have taken something out of Dawson like alot of Hopkins fights do ask Jermaine Taylor. Bad Chad needs to take on an easy mandatory to get some of his confidence back.
