I think Ward will end up being regarded in the same kind of league as Hagler, Leonard and Duran!
What about SSM vs. PBF at Lightweight?

You know which one got me thinking last night and they did fight at the same weight Ward vs. RJJ?

I personally believe SSM v PBF @ LW, Shane would absolutely crush him and stop him inside of 9 rounds.

And Prime RJJ smokes anyone 175 and below.
I too believe that RJJ was god from 160-175 as well as Mosley being the best lightweight with Duran being a close second (Speed trumps almost anything)
I think your forgetting Pernell Whitaker who would beat both.

Seriously? Pernell was quality but Roy was special.

I think he was saying sweet pea would beat both SSM and Duran. Or SSM and PBF. Not RJJ....

Floyd and Ward I recon Floyd would win. If Ward was getting tagged (which he would) and then evetually went for the hug one arm fend off with the other routine and the ref didnt check it early and set the fight off on the right foot, then Floyd wouldnt rest and wait around during the splitting up or natural breaks in a messy in fight. He would be following with bunches of punches or setting angles as Ward moved in to grab etc He'd be scoring in all the spaces and gaps, he would be fitter and faster Floyd exploits people who only do what they have to do to win.

In regards to sweet pea I did mean that he would beat SSM and Hands of stone Duran. Although a fight with Shane Mosley at lightweight would be nerve wrecking to watch if you're a fan of either fighters which I am.

As for Roy, I truly believe that to this very day no one has come or gone that could have beaten him. I do hope this won't always be the case, simply because it would mean that 160-175 peaked in the 90's. I always dynamic and new changes to the sport. I have no problem saying that as great as The Brown Bomber Joe Louis was, he was wide open to overhand rights and a great tall heavyweight with a good chin, educated jab and a chopping heavy handed cross would have been a nightmare for him. But I digress... It is always exciting to see new talent surpass the benchmark that was set by old legends. It's even more exciting to be there live and to see it happen.

Yes... Same thing I say about Ali being open for left hooks all day long and the roy that fought Ruiz would have given him fits in a 12 round fight.

If one of the greatest left hookers ever could not cause too much damage and lose to Ali twice then what chance would Roy Jones have. Sure it may land with some speed but it will not have much effect. Could Roy tale Ali’s punches and deal with Ali’s speed? The way Ali beat Foster would be the way Ali would beat Jones.

I said he would have given him fits, not beat him. And Ali's speed would come to reality when placed next to Jones.

Thats arguable.. Sweet Pea would beat floyd, because Floyd would try to outbox and outfox him and Sweet pea was the best at that. Shane however was a complete beast at LW with more power, speed, and lateral movement. He and Sweet Pea would have been a great fight. Floyd would be beaten by both though.
