The WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko says he plans to add another Olympic gold medal to his collection, if professional boxers are allowed to take part.
The 36-year-old made the revelation during a meeting with students at Uzhgorod University, profi-forex reports. Klitschko Jr. said he plans to continue fighting until the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games, and will then retire.
The International Olympic Committee is seriously regarding the possibility of including professional boxing into the Olympic program.
If the initiative goes through, Klitschko will have a chance to add an Olympic gold to the one he won in Atlanta in 1996.
By now, however, Klitschko has a more realistic mission to accomplish – on November 8, he will defend his titles against two-meter tall Pole Mariusz Wach, who is so far unbeaten in the ring.
