Original & Best: The Sugar Man
I was waiting for that one....... took you guys enough time.
They're worlds apart, my uninformed friend. Mayorga was still a very dangerous fighter. Trinidad DID show "cojones". He took a totally dangerous opponent for his comeback. Not some washed-up opponent outweighed by two weight divisions.
I think some of you are being way too harsh on Hatton here. Katsidis is a career LW, but his last fight was at JWW. This fight, if made, will be outside his comfort zone in terms of weight, but it is what it is.
I think it is far too much to suggest that this is like DLH/Pacquiao. Hatton is coming in off of a 3 and half year lay off and one of the most brutal stoppages we have ever seen. Are people forgetting that KO? It was horrendous, one of the most awful things I have ever seen and like JimBoogie, I don't mind admitting that I shed a tear over it. Absolutely devastating loss. Then of course we have the lost weekend which lasted 3 years. Hatton crying to himself, snorting charlie, boozing like a beast, eventually getting to around 15 stone and a stint in rehab. Hatton was a mess and he has gradually started to get his mind back and to get in shape.
Hatton promised us a name and we have got a name. Not a slick, powder puff, but someone who has hurt Marquez in recent years, which is more than can be said for Pacquiao. After that demolition Hatton should be credited for fighting someone who comes to fight, someone who can hurt people. Sure it is a weight jump for Katsidis, but this is a COMEBACK fight. Off of a massive break AND a KO. This is how many comeback fights are. Do we really prefer a fight with N'Dou or a proper journey man?
If this fight comes off Hatton has done a noble thing and stayed true to his word. Honestly, the hate Hatton gets shocks me.
Good fight. Should be exciting while it lasts. I don't know why people are moaning. Katsidis is a big and powerful lightweight. Hatton will only be a welterweight by virtue of the fact that he hasn't fought in almost 4 years. The extra weight is unlikely to be an advantage to him. Infact, it could have the opposite effect.
Both fighters best years are behind them, we all know this, but this is an exciting match up. I've seen much worse comeback fights anyway.
For those moaning, who do you propose he should fight?
Hahaha fair enough, I'd be up for watching that.
Can't see Hatton winning any credible belt at welterweight. I think Paulie stops him if they fight again.
And they didn't even risk N'Dou for the comeback fight. If Hatton can't stop him and Katsidis' own face doesn't stop him Katsidis will be landing punches and we don't know what punch resistance Hatton has left after that last shattering KO.
Hmmm.... a bit more rational than Beanz, for a change.
Look... I'm not suggesting Hatton should step into the ring with a Lucas Matthysse (who is STILL a weight division below what would now be Hatton's weight). No one wants to witness THAT massacre. But facts are facts. Katsidis is a lightweight. A washed-up lightweight..... one who has lost 4 of his last 5 fights. And OF COURSE Katsidis calls out Hatton and is only too willing to jump into the ring with him. He knows it's probably his last hurrah (Katsidis'). He'll get handsomely paid.... and he'll walk off into retirement. Who wouldn't jump at that opportunity?
My point, if some of you hysterical Hatton fans would stop to consider it.... is that there are other, more credible opponents out there in Hatton's own weight division, who might not pose a danger of KTFO'ing Hatton, if that's the fear. You all say that Hatton would sell out an arena in England if he was shadowboxing.... so what's the problem? Why start that low on the totem pole? To give Hatton the false sense of security that somehow he can be world champion again? To me.... that is a more dangerous path to follow than to test him right now with a fellow 147-pounder who's not necessarily a banger.
But of course the Hatton fanboys, such as Greenie, will shut out all logic and just take it as another attack on Hatton.
Calling someone a fanboy is the desperate behaviour of a retreating idiot.
This is a good fight all things considered, Tito you should agree.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I guess it depends on the desired objectives of the fight. But will it be action-packed? Yes. Is Katisidis a fan-friendly fighter who always comes forward, throwing clean punches? Yes. Will it be competitive? Probably not. Not unless Katsidis happens to land a haymaker clean on the chin of Hatton. Otherwise, Hatton's sheer size advantage, coupled with Katsidis obviously worn odometer, will make for a totally one-sided fight. If that's the purpose of the fight, (or to (cough) stimulate Britain's economy, as Ross said).... then ok.... I guess it's a good fight. I just hope people don't read too much into it.
