I really liked his jab and his attempt at defense. Although he really got to work on it, he got hit with too many straight punches for my taste. I salute him for not smothering himself like he always used to and if he went back to 140 while keeping this jab I think a fight between him and Rios would be very enjoyable to watch.

Sorry Hulk I was trying to find your thread to post this on as I only watched it the weekend.
It is true Maidana did make a lot of adjustments which show he can learn and adapt. Soto may not be the quickest or slickest which may have made Marcus better than he really was, but his jab was fantastic and whilst he tired in one round, he came back and landed the KO.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Guys like Maidana would fit in nicely in any era.
True, and I like watching him, but he would've been found out pretty quickly if he were around 6 or 7 years ago, imo. I would've loved to have see him in against say a Gatti or Corley though, and I think a fight with Zab Judah would still be a lot of fun. If he does plan on staying around 147, he and Malignaggi would be a really solid matchup.
In a best case scenario for Hatton, Maidana would be an ideal opponent a couple of fights down the line as well.
