It was a terrible stoppage, but at the same time Nishioka didn't deserve to be in there. Wonder if the ref was somehow instructed to stop it first chance Donaire landed something

Compukebox averaged Nishioka's punch output at 22 punches a round. So its probably more like 10. For 122 that's beyond pathetic.

That would be pathetic for a 300 pounder let alone a 122 pounder.

Max is way outta line with that weak horseshit about "robbed" in Alvarado v Rios. Just to ask the question on stoppage because main event sucked is crap. STOP!!!!! throwing Gatti Ward into every damn conversation and as a criteria for what qualifies as two guys "doing enough" to satisfy us. Alvardo was DONE....and I;m no fan of Rios. Rant done

Right so the ref had no choice but to stop it. Alvarado looked done to me in the 1st fight, I don't see any controversy there, either.
Not a bad night of boxing.

I still can't believe this is the same guy i see look impressive vs Munroe, and win a 3 round war vs Gonzalez.

Thank God Donaire was throwing or it may have looked like Briggs/Ibragimov

Nishioka's preocupation with Donaire's left hook was beyond annoying. For fuck's sake.... he had it pressed to the side of his face, impairing his own vision. And the few times he dared throw it weakly.... he snapped it right back against his face. That's why I wondered if the marks on his right eye were caused by his own damn glove.

The stoppage itself was weird..... but if the corner had waved it off, I guess the ref had no choice. Nishioka was very disappointing..... I don't see how anyone can blame Donaire for that. Same happened against Omar Narvaez. Bad run of opponents for Nonito.

First fight was phenomenal - my wife stopped watching cause she didn't understand that a crazy bastard like Rios likes it.

As for the second, I guess I see why guys fight Donaire like he'll knock you the hell out. Seems like if you give him a chance, that's exactly what happens. Either way, it's not really his fault guys fight him that way. Feel bad for the guy, in a way...

I couldn't agree with you more, he acts like a sadist at times, like he enjoys seeing a helpless fighter get his face smashed. I'm serious as hell, Max is a freak!

    Poor, poor stoppage.
Smart move by Nishioka's corner I would say.
