Both opponents flattered to deceive a little. If you stand in front of Rios he looks far more effective than he need be, go all gun shy in front of Donaire and he looks much more invincible than he really is. Nishioka was very disappointing and was clearly looking to counter all night and take Donaire out late or merely survive for one last pay day. Not a great plan when your opponent is younger and busier than you are. It makes Rendall Munroe look far more beatable when he meets Quigg on the Hatton undercard.

Nishioka was a bitch. Ive been looking forward to this fight even watched his highlights and thought "damn this guy is good" just to watch him be a coward, I hope he knows he embarrassed himself and just about all of Japan. At least the rios-Alvarado fight was entertaining. Donaire needs to move up in weight.

Yup, I didn't think Nishioka had much of a chance either and when the fight started he did practically nothing for the 1st 5 rounds.

I was there. Don't know if it showed up on hbo but nishiokas corner ran into the ring to stop the fight. Home Depot center is the best place to ever watch a fight.

Really cool that you got to go it. How big was the crowd? Why do you think Home Depot Center is great venue? It didn't really show that they came in. Also, Nonito's left hand was bloody, like it was in a photograph I saw of him training before the fight. New Gloves, maybe?

Well for one, this was my first time watching boxing in an outdoor venue which is a pretty unique experience. Previously, I had only seen boxing in arenas and one time in a baseball stadium. The Home Depot Center is a soccer field on one side and tennis courts on the other. The tennis courts are where they stage the fight has a real gladiator style feel. It's a complete stadium that puts literally EVERY fan in a good seat and that's not just hyperbole, it's true. Luckily I was able to be ringside but even when I had to go upstairs to get water and use the restroom, the seats above the top row that people bought for $40 were better than $100 seats you would get in a typical arena setup. It is cool to see guys like Barrera, Chavez and RJJ interacting with dozens of fans at a time. Plus the fans there (7,833 fans) seemed very knowledgeable compared to fans in the Bay Area.
