I'm not knocking Alvarez at all, I really like him and I'm looking forward to watching the rest of his career. I'm sure he wants to fight Martinez, Mayweather, Cotto and so on right now. Those are three enormous money PPV fights for everybody concerned.

But I don't think his promoters are going to risk it yet. Alvarez is a potential absolute goldmine for them and gradually giving him more seasoning before he hits elite level while at the same time letting the elite fighters get older and take more dings is the smart move for Golden Boy.
