I think that prime Jones Jr. is largely a myth too. His resume was nothing special and his only truly significant wins were over a massively dehydrated Toney and a green Hopkins. A lot of truly terrible cherry picking and if you pick and choose then you are bound to look spectacular. Don't get me wrong, Jones was very good, but he avoided testing that fight in fight out. His chin has likely always been suspect, but taxi drivers are not known as kryponite. Calzaghe would always have beaten Jones Jr. That would actually have been very fun, their eventual matchup was a whitewash travesty. Asides from that KD, Jones was schooled. But hey, if Toney can be weightdrained, then I can excuse Jones Jr. for being half shot.

Hopkins being "green" is an even bigger myth. That nonsense was peddled out because most fans thought Hopkins started boxing in prison. He didn't. He had around 100 amatuer fights before he was locked up. He won junior titles.

Toney's "weight drain" is just a typical bullshit excuse too. Toney was greatly successful before and after losing to Roy. "Oh but he was terribly disadvantaged the night Roy whooped him."

Both Hopkins and Toney were great fighters. They lost against a man who, during his pomp, was even greater than them. Simple as that.

People will find an excuse for anything. Toney and hopkins have said in the past that their only real losses they felt were against roy jones.
Jones is special and a true pound for pound.

Come on Miles, I know you don't believe that lol
Yes, Jones had bums on his resume
Yes, he was still a once in a lifetime fighter.
Fuck NO, Calzaghe would not have beat him. I do agree though that it would have been a lot more fun in their primes.
