The bottom line is Roy never fought anyone like Calzaghe. No one with the work ethic, hand speed and boxing brains that Joe had. So you can hardly shoot down Joe's chances because Roy beat a bunch of fighters who weren't Joe Calzaghe.

No fact just speculation.
Yes it was a "big deal" because RJJ was so far gone nobody expected that to happen.

I shoot down Joe's chances because RJJ was one of the greatest fighters I've ever seen in my life. It's not that Calzaghe sucks or whatever, he was a great fighter, but this is like saying Ali vs Tyson and it's just as simple to predict it's RJJ all day everyday over Calzaghe just like Ali never loses to Tyson.
Getting knocked down with an illegal shot doesn't take anything away from Joe's win nor does it mean a prime Jones demolishes Joe just because old Jones dropped him (illegally)

Calzaghe would give him problems like I said Jones would have to work harder than he ever has had to in a fight to keep up with Joe's work rate.

Ali vs Tyson is a whole different can of worms..
On paper it looks like JC would cause RJ big problems with his fast flurries but RJ has the quickest hands in the business.
Counterpunching plays a big part of this fight and roys double combo uppercuts are amazing!
RJ is just toooo much for JC.
