That's a great matchup. I say Glazkov wins a comfortable UD. Glazkov's a few levels above IMO.

Sorta off topic but will the Adamek-Cunningham card be on regular NBC or NBC sports? A few months back there was talk of Main Events getting a network tv slot in December.
Glazkov looks to be the favorite but Hamer has had some good wins recently, he's got some momentum.

Kevin Johnson hopes to defeat Tyson Fury and regain contender status

    http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/john...er-fury-150966

American heavyweight boxing fans that have been waiting for a legitimate heavyweight contender could be in for a treat come December 1st as proven veteran Kevin Johnson (28-2-1) battles UK’s undefeated 6’ 9” giant Tyson Fury (19-0-0) in an official WBC heavyweight world title eliminator. A win by Johnson on Saturday will put an American heavyweight back in the ring challenging for the world title. The fight will be covered live in the United States on WealthTV starting at 4 pm on Saturday.

Johnson, a resident of Atlanta, Georgia, credits the legendary boxing Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes for putting his career down the right path. Holmes trained Johnson during the early days of his career and taught Johnson the value of a stinging jab. Johnson, with 28 fights under his belt, seasoned yet only 33 years old, may be peaking at the right time. Lately, Johnson has been training with Jeff Mayweather, Floyd’s uncle, of the Mayweather Boxing Club, to get ready for the undefeated Tyson Fury. Johnson says Jeff was the missing element in his arsenal and credits Mayweather for giving him the skills to make him a complete boxer. Mayweather has been training a number of American heavyweights, including Michael Grant, giving Johnson plenty of quality sparing partners as he prepares for Fury.

During a recent press conference, Larry Holmes offered Johnson the following advice, “Keep the pressure on him, because those big guys need room. I wouldn’t give him any space at all. I would use the jab, work the body, and see what he ate the night before.” Apparently Johnson is going to listen to his mentor. Johnson stated that, “This will be my first fight in boxing history where I’m just going to have to go out and go get him. When the bell rings I’m going to get (Fury)”. Fury listening to Johnson’s strategy of coming straight at him, quickly responded, “If he does come to try and get me, it’s going to be an early Christmas for Mr. Fury.”

Fury of the United Kingdom has a record of 19-0 with fourteen knockouts and his established himself as one of the best and most personable Heavyweights in the world. He has a number of impressive wins on his resume over Marcel Zeller (21-3) in his second bout, John McDermott (twice), Rich Power (12-0), Marcelo Nascimento (13-0), former world title challenger Dereck Chisora (14-0), Neven Pajkic (16-0), Martin Rogan (14-2) and in his last bout, televised live and exclusively on WealthTV in the US, Tyson stopped popular American heavyweight Vinny Maddalone in five rounds on July 7th.

“Kevin Johnson is an experienced and tough fighter. He’s never been dropped and he’s been training hard under Jeff Mayweather. It won’t surprise us if Tyson experiences his first loss on Saturday. Regardless, we don’t expect this fight to go the distance. These big heavyweights are going to collide in the middle of the ring and provide a highly entertaining show”, stated Charles Herring, President of WealthTV.

Professional boxing, which is stronger than ever in many parts of the world, appears to be making a comeback in the US. “We’re pleased to have offered a number of world-class quality matches live and for free on our network over the last year. The more quality events boxing fans have access to, the better it is for all boxing outlets, including PPV, in the United States,” stated Herring.

Chisora would be a good yardstick to measure Price against but do not be surprised if Price gets an early KO when Fury fans suddenly declare him a has been journeyman.

World Boxing News: Bryant Jennings exceeds own expectations in 2012

Heavyweight Bryant Jennings, 15-0, 7 KO's, didn't begin 2012 as the #5 IBF heavyweight contender, but after an incredible eleven months, four TV bouts, winning a USBA title, and three nationally televised fights on NBC Sports Network, the North Philadelphia boxer has put together a year that will be hard to top.

Jennings takes on Bowie Tupou, 22-2, 16 KOs, before Jennings' hometown fans at Temple University's Pearson / McGonigle Hall, on December 8th. The 12-rounder will be for Jennings' USBA title and will once again be featured on NBC Sport Network Fight Night. The telecast will begin at 10PM ET.

Jennings began the year as a 11-0 prospect who'd never been in a fight scheduled more than six rounds. But everything changed in January with the inaugural edition of NBCSN's Fight Night series. With expectations high for the beginning of the new recurring boxing show, Jennings saved the day by stepping into the main event at the last minute, and in doing so made his own career. Jennings not only won a 10-round decision against Maurice Byarm to claim the Pennsylvania State title that night, he also propelled himself into the heavyweight mix. He fought hard, looked good, and won big, all on national TV. A star was born.

"If you thought my fight with Byarm was a big transition for my career, then the rest of the year was magnificent," Jennings said. "I went from never being ranked by a major sanctioning body to being arguably the best prospect with a heavyweight title. That's unheard of."

Much of the Jennings' buzz came three months later, again on NBCSN, when he defeated former WBO heavyweight champion Sergei Liakovich by impressive 9th round TKO, in the evening's televised co-feature. The win proved Jennings was for real and further pushed him up the ladder.

"I dreamt it before, but I never knew it would come this soon," Jennings said of his sudden stardom and clear career path. He was really on a roll.

In his next fight, in June against Steve Collins, Jennings earned the USBA title on yet another NBC Sports Network Fight Night telecast. The win pushed the Philadelphian into the top ten of the world ratings. After blowing out his next opponent, Chris Koval, in just 35 seconds in September, Jennings wanted one more fight before the year ended.

He gets his chance on December 8th, right back where everything started for him, back home and on NBC Sports Network.

"It kind of puts a little more pressure on me," Jennings said about the logistics for his next fight. "I'm home, and I definitely have to be on my P's and Q's. I have to make sure everything is perfect."

A victory against Tupou would cap Jennings' very good year, and give him a chance to show his fans how far he's come in just twelve months.

"This year was definitely great because I exceeded my expectations," Jennings said. " I actually did it. That shows how focused and hungry I am to achieve my goals."

World Boxing News: WBC heavyweight title eliminator roundabout in full swing

The next in-line to WBC heavyweight king Vitali Klitschko is as yet undecided, although the WBC are hoping to finalise one single contender in the coming months through their series of eliminators.

American Johnathon Banks is the latest to come through a ‘semi-final’ eliminator as the World Boxing Council rubberstamp two more bouts to decide who will move a step closer to the formidable Ukrainian.

Tyson Fury v Kevin Johnson has just been confirmed as what is believed to be a WBC title eliminator, whilst Chris Arreola’s clash with Bermane Stiverne on January 26 in California is now rubberstamped as a ‘semi-final’ contest.

The latter could have been hastily approved in the wake of Banks confirming to WBN that he would never fight Wladimir or Vitali as it ‘would be like fighting family’ and that would seemingly leave Fury or Johnson in pole position to meet Vitali in the summer.

The WBC have also welcomed back two-weight title holder David Haye in to the fold, despite the Londoner being unranked, even after claiming a fringe belt in his impressive win over Dereck Chisora. It is also debatable whether the current ‘I’m a Celebrity’ star would meet the winner of Arreola v Stiverne to earn the chance at Klitschko he yearns for and would no doubt expect a straight shot at the champion.

At the moment, with Tyson Fury a heavy favourite to overcome Kevin Johnson in Belfast on Saturday night, everything is pointing towards a Klitschko v Fury summer meeting, with Haye and the venue the only stumbling blocks in the way.

A retirement decision by Vitali would seriously alter that and could potentially leave Fury and Haye to fight out a domestic battle for the vacant WBC heavyweight title, in what would be an intriguing contest with plenty of ifs and buts.

Vitali’s brother Wladimir would surely have some claim to any vacant belt if his brother was to hang up his gloves as ‘Dr. Steelhammer’ would seek to keep up the Klitschko domination of the title belts.

Whatever is the outcome, boxing’s top table seems to be serving up some tasty match-ups after years lying dormant as the emergence of a new generation, headed by Fury, continue their march up the rankings.
