What I've learned is that, in boxing, you have to literally start from the ground up. Don't overwhelm yourself with information, take things one step at a time. Naturally, boxing is a sport where you tie in many different skills at once. The ultimate goal here is to make these fundamental skills instinctual and effortless.
I suggest among the first things you learn be footwork. Footwork is a general term for how to move in the ring. Without learning footwork first, you're setting yourself up for bad habits and techniques.
From there you pick up on learning the jab and right cross.
You can pretty much go in any direction from there, and you start become more self sufficient as you understand how everything ties together in boxing.
