Trout clearly won the fight, but it wasn't too fucking thrilling. In my humble opinion, I believe Trout gives Canelo a run for his money if this fight gets scheduled next.

A few observations: Trout looked bigger, took Cotto's punches well, and controlled much of the fight. Cotto looked shop worn, but gave it his all which simply wasn't enough.

Onward to Pacquiao-Marquez IV next weekend on HBO PPV.

I officially can not listen to Pauli & Ranello, I had these 2 clowns on mute the whole fight.
I've hated Ranello for a long time, had to deal with his corny ass for 8 years from watching MMA. He's always been shit IMO. Paulie has potential IMO but is still "finding his voice" as a commentator I guess.

As for the fight... I had it 117-111, agreed with the 2 judges. I don't think Trout won 11 rounds like one judge though, but at least they gave it to the right guy.

It would have been a crying shame if they screwed Trout out of that hard-fought victory.

Cotto has done big things in the boxing game, and I think if he's thinking about retirement then this may be an opportune time to go through with it. He's had some tough wars, best to quit and get into the promoting game so he can live with a good quality of life after boxing. Either way I wish him the best because he was a hell of a fighter.

I agree, he was just fighting a really popular pug in Cotto, he seems humble enough. Good win for Trout actually, a lot of boxing fans were writing him off.

Pauli is just fucking sickening, I can't get behind any "man" that wears earrings, and looks and acts the way this clown does. I mean is this cat a straight up fag or what?
As for Miguel, in fairness Trout was bigger, and much better then people were giving him credit for being. I'm not so sure Cotto wouldn't do well against Alvarez, they're closer to the same size, but it remains to be seen if that fight ever happens.

I haven't read through the whole thread, but I agree that Cotto should retire. He gave it his best shot, but his punches weren't doing much to Trout. Cotto's face looked like hell after the fight. Also, Cotto's words sound like someone who's already got one foot out the door. He's got a wonderful family... and what man wouldn't want to spend time with that? I still think Cotto, for his size, did as much as he could at 154. That is not his best weight. That he won any championships at all at that weight is astounding. But Trout was younger, bigger, faster. I had a pretty good crowd over at the house watching the fight, and we got quieter and quieter as the fight went along. After 7-8 rounds... you sort of know where the fight is going.

On a happier note, I was ecstatic at seeing some good Puerto Rican prospects put in some very good efforts. Young blood coming up. That's what the sport's all about.

    I had it 11-1 for 119-109.

I thought the cards were great, I was fearing some sort of sick robbery to rival the most sick. Sure you coulda had it a bit closer but Trout won with more than room to spare.

You called it, Trout stepped up and changed things.

Just like everything in life there are always questions.
Is Trout really that good, or has Cotto slowed up?
If Trout is that good, who will/should he fight next?

I think Trout's that good and Cotto has slowed a little. I'm glad for Trout and sad for Cotto.

Yeah... Cotto should hang them up. He's had a wonderful career, but he can no longer hang with the big boys at 154. And he'll never go back to 147, so I think it's better for him to retire while somewhat on top of his game. He's a smart guy, so I think he will.

COMPLETE COTTO – TROUT UNDERCARD RESULTS FROM NEW YORK

I was able to see most of the undercard and was thrilled to see some of our good local prospects win their respective fights. Jeffrey Fontanez looked fantastic, and so did Jayson Velez. Exciting times ahead for P.R. boxing. Cotto looks to be on the way out, after a wonderful, HOF career. But that's boxing.... new blood coming in to replace the old blood.

The thing is Cotto, could be offered good money to face Canelo , this would be one fight to many for
Miguel, he has taken some stick. Canelo would sure give him some more, and I can see him taking a
beating if this fight was to happen.!

Trout was impressive last night, I'm gutted Cotto couldn't win but trout simply was the bigger man In there and it showed. He control the fight with his long jab and looked good on the inside too, he rocked Cotto quite a few times too.

I don't know where Cotto goes from here but he will be pissed after last night, I hope he does fight again but for how long he does is another question.

This is probably a rhetorical question but I'll answer it anyway.

I've wondered about this myself, and I think the family being there motivates them to try a little harder.

Of course, it could be the old lady saying, "Fuck you, if you think we're missing a chance to be on TV all around the world, you are out of your mind. And you better act like you want us there, too".
    It's possible!
