Mayweather beat Marquez by a landslide, but it was a dodgy fight in terms of Marquez not being a WW and Mayweather not meeting his side of the deal.

The Marquez who fought Manny a year ago would have done far better against Mayweather and definitely so against this older Mayweather. Mayweather has lost his legs now. Marquez bulked up properly and acclimatised to the weight. In other words Marquez had learned from the Mayweather fight and done his homework better.

The argument I have here is simply that I don't consider Mayweather the best active fighter in the world as he is a part time boxer. I have no issues with the Marquez/Mayweather fight result, but do believe Marquez is far better than the result suggests and I proffer the reasons of acclimatisation and cheating as partial explanations.

That fight is what it is though. Prior to this Manny was the best fighter in the world and he has been destroyed.
I think a Mayweather/Marquez fight would be a much more competitive affair at this point. I'd pay to see it
You won't let Marquez have his retirement will you?

Anyway folks, that's me done for the day too. A lot of posting, a lot of nerves, and just a brilliant result in the end. Full props to Marquez, but also commiserations too to Manny Pacquaio. He has been on the recieving end of my verbal sword for many years now and though delighted to see Marquez stop him, it was a very brutal stoppage. What goes around comes around, and it just is what it is. Pac had seemed like a rock in recent years, but he is just human after all. He is a proud man and won't have taken the stoppage well at all. I hope he will be okay.

Still, this is the moment for Marquez and I hope he enjoys it to the max. Over and out.
