Bowe was effectively finished by the time he fought Golota, Holyfield had taken everything out of him. Bowe still put on an impressive performance particularly the second fight. That was the best of Golota ever and he made a name and money from those two fights.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Golota is a fuck up, has always been a fuck up and will always be a fuck up.
A loveable fuck up tho and a man who was absolutely robbed against Chris Byrd for a heavyweight title.
Both Bowe fights he screwed himself though. Just self destructed and would not stop punching the old shopworn warrior in the balls.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Yeah it's something really, I don't know of anyone who made it to world level that was such a basket case in the ring. I mean even Tyson would have never pulled something like that in a fight he was winning, and when those two met it just cemented how much more of a mental Golota was. I always imagined that guy would be downright terrifying to be around.
A prime Andrew Golota would wreck havoc on this piss poor boring division
Yeah he wasn't mentally "there" but he was one of the most entertaining heavyweights I've seen ... an Andrew Golota fight NEVER lacked excitement or drama.
Shame that he was probably the biggest waste of talent of the 90s.
And he didn't do that in just the Bowe fights ... remember the Grant fight? He was clearly beating the hell out of Grant and scored two KDs in the first and controlled the fight until Grant knocked him down ... Grant's knock down didn't even hurt Golota and he quit anyway while being up on all score cards. Hell he could have lost the last two rounds and still pulled out the decision, even with that 10-8 round in the 10th due to him being knocked down.
Golota was a true character and entertainer ... as well as a very skilled and talented boxer ... far more natural ability than those jab jab grab jackoff robots from Ukraine
