As far as tecnique goes I really can't find a realistic flaw that opponents managed to take advantage of consistently, yes the De La Hoya jab was winning him rounds but he never stuck to it and to be fair a good jab makes any hard fight easier. That being said and me agreeing with you that in this generation I believe Floyd to be the very best. I'd have to say though I still take prime RJJ and Sweet Pea over him.

I think its merely a matter of personal taste for me but out of the 100+ fighter collection I have on dvd. RJJ is the only one that ever puts in awe. Sweet pea just had you on a string following him while being battered. It was so damn beautiful to watch.

So for the last three generations I'd have to say Sweet Pete, The Invincible Roy Jones, and finally pretty boy Floyd Mayweather for me.

As for the future? Toss up between Andre Ward, (winner of Rigo, Mares, Donaire though I like Donaire's 24/7 365 testing and his ring activity)

Floyd is a great fighter but I believe, just like Pernell Whitaker, that his peak weight is not Welterweight. As I said earlier SRL would beat him and I believe Hearn’s and Tito would beat him too.

What is Floyd’s prime, in terms of money it is now but his best weight would be super featherweight?

Tito? Are you kidding me? Tito looked great against come forward fighters. When he fought anybody who actually boxed (Hopkins, Wright, Oscar) he looked clueless.

Hopkins and Wright were at the higher weights. Oscar did give him trouble but Tito had power ad Floyd could not afford to make one mistake otherwise he would have got starched.

Oscar had power, Mosley had power, Chico had power, Ortiz had power, Cotto had power, Judah had power, Corley had power.

It would have made no difference what weight he would have fought Winky at. Oscar showed working behind the jab and moving laterally easily negates Tito's power, with or without his hand wraps.
Floyd's style is all wrong for Tito, and I'd see another shutout loss for him.

None of the fighters you state had Tito power, at welter he would have beaten those fighters you mention that had power.

Style wise I agree Floyd would pose a lot of problems but Tito had height and reach advantages and he would have caught Floyd in the end.

Like he did with Oscar, Camacho and Whitaker? Tito had power, yes, but when you add the fact that Oscar was robbed you have a fighter that looked great against solid b+ fighters, but didn't against the better ones.
Who did he fight that was a hall of famer? Oscar, Camacho, Hopkins, Whitaker, Wright, Jones Jr. He didn't stop any of them, and there is no reason to suggest he would find Floyd. Nobody else could.

SRL? Ok. Hearns? Fair enough. But Tito? Tito got completely outfoxed by Oscar and got one of the biggest gifts in boxing history. He's never showed any ability to deal with a guy with slick defense, quick hands and the ability to keep him from planting his feet and nullifying the left hook.

I just can't see Tito winning (save for an Oscar-like robbery).

Tito would win so would a peak Oscar at welterweight.

The Oscar who fought Tito would be an intriguing fight for sure

Agreed he was at his peak, he would have kept that jab coming throughout the fight and he would not have to worry about Floyd's power.

So much for Floyd bragging about his CompuBox stats. Roy arguably didn't lose a single round in his prime. He was the most dominant champion I've ever seen, along with Tyson.
Listen I'm not going to say a bad word about RJJ because I think he was one of the greatest talents boxing has ever seen.

But if you want to be fair and shit on Floyd's opponents... you're talking about Roy pitching a shut out at 168 against a blown up 140lber who was coming back from a car accident where he BROKE HIS NECK.

Relax. I was only putting that fact out there because Floyd fans and Floyd himself always brag about his CompuBox numbers and defense. I don't rate the Paz win high at all.

Virgil Hill - When Roy beat him he was coming off a loss to The Tiger. Great win, great performance, but fighting a guy coming off a big loss.

Glen Kelly - Glen Kelly?!? GLEN KELLY?? He amassed a good record fighting nobodies, then got starched when he stepped up. His career when no where. You'd put him up with Cotto, undefeated Hatton, Mosely, ect? What??

Antonio Tarver - Looked AWFUL in that "win", a lot of people felt Tarver beat him up and deserved the nod.

JSG - Solid fighter, only pro a few years at the time I think.

Montell Griffin - Solid fighter, very unorthodox, but gave Roy hell in the first fight and was far from great.
Virgil Hill lost by decision to DM but was KOed by Roy in a much more dominant performance. It was a good win despite him coming off a lose. And that was his only KO loss ever. Better than Mayweathers Cotto victory which is his best over 135.

As for Glen Kelly that was a good win, stop trying to diminish it. He was an undefeated prospect and outweighed Roy by a significant amount on fight night.

Roy was coming down in weight to fight Tarver and was never the same after the Ruiz fight.

JSG beat the life out of the "lineal" champ DM after he got thrashed by Roy. A very good fighter. Better than an old Mosley, hype job Hatton, and probably better than a shot Cotto.

It doesn't matter that much anyway since RJJ has a better resume overall than Floyd. He became undisputed LHW champ while Floyd retired and went on vacation, avoiding big names at welterweight.

His resume up to 168 is better than Floyd's up to 135. Toney, B Hop >>> Corrales, Castillo.

If we made a poll here to see who people thought was "better" and put up RJJ against Tyson against Floyd I'm sure that Floyd would get the least amount of votes. Floyd's reign has been eclipsed by Pacquiao. RJJ and Tyson were more impressive fighters.
