Fair and solid punch to the flank there had some good impact behind it but Ali was also off-balance and some claim Wepner stepped on his foot...
ruled a knockdown for the history books nonetheless.
Chuck Wepner joined a very small club of Henry Cooper and Smokin Joe Frazier.

When Cooper caught him, Clay was a novice, when Frazier caught him that was a great punch from a great fighter. This does not count.

Even without the foot you can tell that it was a knock OVER and not a knock down. Guy's don't fall like that from rib shots... It's usually a pretty slow sinking/slumping. They don't tip back like that.
