Default Shane Mosley sparring GGG (Video)

Mosley more than holds his own here, until the last round devolves into a lot of clinching and grappling.

A lot of people shit on Mosley in this forum and a lot are singing the praises are Golvekin.

I think GGG would probably stop Mosley late in a 12 round fight without the face saver headgear and presumably 16 oz sparring gloves.

However, for boxing ability, Mosley was slippin, counterin and schoolin him a bit here.

I think it puts these other tales of GGG dominating and killing people like Angulo in sparring in perspective. It certainly wasn't the case against Mosley.

Mosely threw alot of arm punches. GGG landed some hard shots that would have done serious damage without headgear.

GGG clearly isn't the world beater that people have tried to make him out to be...but Mosely is washed up.

If you've ever used headgear it mostly just prevents cuts. GGG looks like he showed Mosley a lot of respect and wasn't going in for the kill or super aggressive.

Well it is sparring and he is doing it with an ex champ who's 40. I don't think any self respecting boxer would try to look good against the old champ.

Yeah sparring is practice and I guess they were practicing for something. Well the GG is anyway. Thanks for the vid.

    How old is this footage?

Mosley got slowed down by the body shots at the end, he started of good and looked quick. GGG got caught with a open guard on his way in to mosely a few times. Mosley's slick feet and good defense kept him safe. I think GGG let mosley tee off though because it posed no danger. GGG looked better as the round went on and he threw the more effective and clean shots but he wasn't that busy in the ring.

This is more excellent sparring for GGG, mosley is the perfect sort of sparing partner he needs to deal with an opposite style of his.

As i said though Golovkin was holding back IMO and it wasn't an intense session anyway. Watch the right @ 1:06 GGG lands, it wasn't even thrown with force and it reverburated LOL So heavy handed this guy...

The criticism of Golovkin is that he can be outboxed. Rosado couldn't do it. Mosley did a little bit. That's why at middleweight Pirog and Martinez would be the toughest fights for Golovkin.

That must be a younger Shane to stand in there with GGG.

Remember sparring a smaller fighter, is for speed there's hard sparring you here a lot of story's, truth
    is sparring means nothing it's all in the fight. I myself have seen some very good gym fighters,{ sparring}
but when it came to them, in the ring fighting sorry to say it hopeless.
I don't put a lot into sparring, people have off day's even the very best don't be fooled, of course you
can't judge sparring as a match, it is what it is honing your skills.
