@IamInuit,
I think a lot of you are underrating Alvarez and overrating Trout because of his size and win over Cotto, Canelo will kick Austin's ass, mark it down. (no sig bet)
I find this hard to believe. His management have taken zero risks with Alvarez and he's been let's say carefully matched on his road to a defining fight. Up to now the best boxer he's fought has been Archie Solis. So they're now one fight away from a gigantic Mayweather payday and they're going to risk it by facing Trout? Hard to see.
Hats off to him if it's true.
if Canelo wins this one then I'll will give him a lot of prop for beating an actual solid opponent, if he loses I'll still respect him for actually doing what a champion is suppose to do.
That being said, I'll put down 300 on Trout soon as I see the odds.
Trout frustrated Cotto who does not have the legs he used to, Canelo is young quick and hungry. His left hook is big and at some point Alvarez will figure Trout out and drop him with it. Canelo may not up until know have had the hardest of opponents, but he also has not walked through them. He has learnt in Every fight, from getting tagged by Jose Cotto to dealing with a cut against Mosely he has thought and adapted, improving with every fight. He knows when to finish people off, when to stand and trade, how to cut down the ring and how to box from a distance. Trout's gameplan against Cotto was a stroke of genius but he will not be able to pop in and out against Saul without sustaining much more serious punishment. Cotto ain't completely finished, but Floyd took his fifth gear away and Trout capitalised on that.
Agreed. Alvarez has definitely improved & is becoming a very decent fighter. But Trout is a whole different ball game.
Those saying that Trout caught Cotto at the right time, need to realize that Cotto gave Mayweather one of his toughest fights only months before, but once Trout got him he's slipped? Nigga please! It was Trout that made Cotto look that way & he deserves all the credit for it!
I don't think Canelo has fought anyone near Trout's ability, who can box & spoil. Both guys will be tested but Alvarez will be the one exposed...
The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be
Cotto was a little battle worn but he and Alvarez share a very similar style and Trouts style was bad for Cotto and it will be the same frustrating style for Alvarez. I keep having flashbacks of Matthew Hatton. Had he had any pop he may have had Alvarez in trouble several times. Some claim he has been showing steady improvement. Against whom, a Sugar Shane that has not pulled the trigger for about two years. This is another example of a carefully guided career full of predetermined results running into roadblocks. In fairness it could also prove to be an example of a fighter silencing his critics. Its certainly no forgone conclusion that Trout wins this.
I'll agree that Cotto was probably a little worn, but I still base my opinion of a fighter on his last performance, & in his last fight (Floyd) before the Trout fight he looked very good imo
There were folks calling for Cotto/ Alvarez prior to the Trout fight, many saying Cotto would be the one to expose Canelo, but once Trout made Cotto look very ordinary their story changed to Cotto was this & that & discredit the performance that Trout gave
Trout is a very good fighter & I think his jab alone will be one of Canelo's biggest hurdles
I agree this is not a forgone conclusion, to me it could be a very evenly matched competitive bout
The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be
In any event this should be a good scrap for us fans to look forward to May 4th. Both pugs are the same size, are around the same height & reach, and both are undefeated. So somebody's '0' has got to go, I say it's Trout's but we shall see.
cheers
if canelo fight against mayweather it would be awesome fight.
