Good for you sir, it seems everyone else on this forum likes to talk about cleaning up boxing, but they don't have the conviction to carry it out.
We are talking about Chavez Jr, not Margarito or anyone else.
Does this penalty send a clear message to Chavez Jr and everyone in boxing that the Nevada State Athletic Commission will not tolerate the use of banned drugs by boxers? Yes it does, and it's a good step in the right direction by one commission.
Hmm like most cover ups in sport, they test positive for something to mask the real ped. In this case, Chavez was probably caught on both and they gave him the option of a harsh penalty and they would say he used weed instead of the real ped he was taking........just my lil conspiracy theory........

Chavez Jr.'s DVD just came out and I'd recommend all of you guys to have a look at it. It involves some really inspiring scenes and it'll motivate up and coming boxers especially in Mexico.
I agree he's been under some pressure recently, but he's one of the most naturally talented boxers I've ever seen.

What a sign of just how fk'd up the entire program is. They fine a guy 900 grand for traces of weed that could have been there from a week before. Traces from a week before of a drug that has no performance enhancing properties at all but they will essentially ignore the known Peds that do enhance performance by using the same testing methods knowing they will rarely catch anyone. Btw whens the last time anyone got a 900 thousand dollar fine for actually using steroids? If you are going to try and show the world that you are doing something about performance enhancing drugs in boxing by using a household name, you don't make a federal case out of Chavez testing positive for Thc ffs. Doing so has the reverse effect because it tells anyone over the age of 12 how stupid they are.

If I were fighting Chavez Jr. I would personally sign a contract allowing him to test positive for weed. I would also tell Julio that I will personally pick up the tab for his purchases and have them delivered to his camp. Not a PED, and this is totally BS. And I'm not a Chavez Jr fan, but this was excessive.
