Broner needs to beat the best at lightweight before moving up to 140lb not moving up 2 divisions to fight an B level champion. If Broner wins, will he stay at the weight in which he may be too small for? Does he go back down to the lower weights? Strange decision.

Normally I'd agree with you but Burns is going to need a warm up and Gamboa is in some kind of Arum bubble. Burns then has Warren to deal with and a court battle. Not sure why he should hang around when he cant get either other top dog in the division. In addition 140 is pretty dam busy and if you count breaks after matches then he could be toiling there waiting for someone and by the time he probably gets one they would be most likely headed to 147 anyway. Size imo wont be a factor. Broner fought as high as 140 earlier in his career and over 135 several times. He's got a huge frame and wont have any issues at 147.

It does take time to acclimatise to the bigger weight. Floyd struggled at the weight at first he has grown into the weight and is at his best.

Its ALL about the money and making it now for Paulie and also maintaining the numbers for Broner. Very good fight for both camps!

I'm a bit shocked that this is a real fight. It's an odd curiosity and potentially a very decent match up.

I hope Paulie can show up with a great gameplan and stick with it as you can definitely take rounds off Broner. Rees was a hobbit and he easily tagged Broner. Paulie doesn't need to hurt him, but to just keep him at bay, pop the jabs, quick one-twos, and to be gone. Vary it a little and keep vanishing. A nice big ring would be ideal. Maybe in some respects Paulie could keep him a little honest, his right does seem a little stronger these days. He can certainly slice you.

Broner comes across to me as little bit retarded too with this bizarre rapping and gurning routine. I just find it irritating and would rather have his career stopped than have to see more of it. I don't think he is even very fun to watch, he just seems to overwhelm people who have poor ring IQ. Paulie is at least a real step up.

Boner was a pretty accomplished amatuer boxer. He knows how to box on his toes and move laterially. He is working on his pro style which is getting his feet settled into the canvas to generate some power! 'It will be interesting if Paulie comes in boxing and makes Broner get up on his toes to close ground between them. Then he has to make the quick transition from boxer to puncher that most fighters like Paulie and Khan have a tuff time doing. I think Donaire does it very well but he will be challenged against Rigo to show superior abilities to act and react quicker than Rigo who is very quick on his feet and in his mind!
I believe Broner is capable of making the changes but that doesn't mean he can't struggle if Paulie comes in and makes this a boxing match. I like the match up for both guys, the interviews should be comical. ( and meaningless) The titles are meaningless for now (to many to keep track of) its all about promotion for now, We get a chance to see a talented kid grow in the sport and we'll see if he is true to the game or another BS'er!
