Default Deontay Wilder vs. Tony Thompson in the works

Schaefer: We’ll have Deontay Wilder fight Tony Thompson in Alabama

Well this may answer our question of who is better between Wilder and Price. Good step up for Wilder. Thompson should be a decent test for him.

Finally, a fight that will really tell us something about Wilder.
Don't get too excited, lets make sure it's going to happen before we start jumping up and down.
I'm restraining myself but I'm real interested.
Good for Thompson, suddenly he's a gatekeeper with everyone clamoring for his attention.

Man this is jumping right in the deep end! Great fight for both men, another undefeated power puncher for Thompson & finally a guy who will at the very least give Wilder rounds! Thompson is a good boxer, solid defense, and hits hard enough to stop pretenders or guys who have looked past him. I hope Thompson is in better shape for this fight, I still think the Price fight could be chalked up to luck because Price hurt him a time or two he just got a bit careless. Wilder will have to pace himself and break Thompson down, he should follow Wladimir's example seeing how Wlad has successfully KO'd Thompson twice (he's the only man to stop Thompson thusfar). I hope this gets signed and after this (if all goes according to plan) we can have Wilder vs Jennings!

Honestly, Thompson deserves better all things considered. Its one thing to be brought in as a stepping stone...but from Liverpool to Alabama just to change Wilders diaper?!

If its fact then props to both and to Wilder for finally jumping in but in a break out fight Wilder needs to break out of his shell. Put it in Thompsons hometown or neutral. Wilder is like the kid who has out grown his well constructed Couch fort.

This is a step up of sorts...

Thompson riding high after Price KO

But the praise is deceptive imo

Not really high on Wilder but I see him taking Thompson out

I hope Wilder wins and is the next big thing I can jump onto since the Seth Mitchell bandwagon fell down for me.

You and I both. Again... I'll believe it when the bell sounds for Round 1.

I'd like to see the fight, Tony isn't going to lay down for Wilder, so we''ll get to see what he's made of. Chances are Wilder will win a decison, but we shall see.

If Thompson lays out Wilder too, the Klitschkos will probably be laughing like maniacs.

Have we learned nothing this year? A prospect cannot jump from fighting scrubs to fighting genuine title level fighters. Sure there is a gulf between the Klitschko's and Thompson but there is also a gulf between these untested prospects and Thompson
