Default British and Irish Domestic Dust Ups. What has happened to them ?

While I am not sure it is quite on the level of Barrera-Morales, Joe Gallagher does have a point when he refers to the possible Quigg-Frampton fight as THE domestic match up that fight fans here (UK/Ireland) are hanging out for.

My fear for Scott Quigg if big fights don’t come soon - Joe Gallagher - Manchester Evening News

It is not the only BIG domestic contest either with four middleweights that could be matched and other matches that could be big ticket sellers. Have the UK promoters taken their eyes of the ball in being so eager to either protect their fighters or get them world title shots that they have ignored lucrative opportunities at home?

It is not just about money either. It may be a gamble but waiting for a fighter to have a title belt to bargain with is often unnecessary here and opportunities have been wasted.

    Price - Fury
    Khan -Brook
    etc

Is Quigg - Frampton doomed too ?

I've said it before, Frampton Quigg doesn't made sense now. Both are closing in on world title shots and a loss will take that away so risk ourweighs the reward. I also think that fight not happening before is completely down to Quigg ducking Frampton, which is strange cz I think Quigg has the better of him.

I don't know why other fights don't get made, my guess is promoters to scared to take risks. Fury definitely ducked Price but I'd say Khan v Brook has a great chance of happening next year. Macklin Murray will happen soon I reckon, possibly after Martinez beats him and I think Lee Barker could be on the cards too.

But apart from the above there haven't been many that haven't happened.

Quigg has the WBA interim title. Assuming Donaire beats Rigondeaux then moves to 126 he'll be upgraded so, perhaps hold off the Quigg v Frampton fight for 9 months but have them both fight once more.

We hang our hat on these BIG domestic fights at times but all they do is ruin one fighter and fill the winning fighters head that he can take on the world. Sometimes, it'd be nice to see these guys prove themselves at top level before fighting each other.

I don't know I think Quigg and Frampton are both talented and young enough to sustain a loss to the other and still go on to compete at world level. In fact the gap between them both and world level is such that the experience would stand them in good stead.

I would say this fight is the exception as most believe they are both pretty close to world class. Fury & Price aren't though.
