Augusta National Golf Club has about 300 members at any given time. Membership is strictly by invitation; there is no application process. In 2004, USA Today published a list of all the current members. Membership is believed to cost between $10,000 and $30,000 and annual dues were estimated in 2009 to be less than $10,000 per year.

Augusta only invited and accepted an African-American member for the first time in 1990 following a controversy at Shoal Creek Golf and Country Club. Shoal Creek, an all-white golf club in Alabama, also refused membership to black players and faced demands that the PGA Championship not be held there following racial comments by the club's founder. Chairman Billy Payne declined to discuss the club's then continued refusal to admit women in his 2012 pre-Masters press conference, and Augusta National subsequently extended membership to Condoleezza Rice and Darla Moore on August 20, 2012

Harmless? Augusta National is a sexist, racist, "Good Old Boys Club" and you will sit there watching golf lining the pockets of those old rich white guys. Also you're actively rooting AGAINST Tiger Woods....I quite like Tiger Woods as a matter of fact, he's no gentleman but he is a great golfer.

Why don't you like him? I never found him to be the most entertaining guy in interviews but on the course he does some special stuff. I'd actually like Fred Couples to win again but that's highly unlikely eventhough he's doing well today

Anyway..... back to the Masters... I was saying how I can't stand Tiger Woods and root for him to lose every tournament he plays.

I'm not a fan either but do want him to win - because he's the best and I think his talent deserves to take him past Nicklaus in the majors list. His shagging on the side cost him dearly in terms of tournament wins - but i bet he enjoyed himself

I'm the same with Phil Taylor at darts and O'Sullivan at snooker when I want them to win - not particularly fans of them as people but am of their talent, if that makes sense
