They're going to fight at some stupid catchweight, only to have to make the weight for the title fight? What kind of bullshit is that?
Wrong yet again. Matthysse wants the Danny Garcia fight. He doesn't give a fuck about the titles. He said he'll gladly face Garcia at 141 in order to let Garcia keep his belts after he beats him. Cuz he doesn't give a fuck about the belts. If he did he would of gave up his WBC interim title and just faced Peterson for his IBF title. But he didn't. Cuz it's not about the belts. Matthysse holding that Interim title keeps him as Garcia''s mandatory.

That's what non-title bouts are for. Ever heard of those? Why cloud up the weight issue with catchweights? Weight issues in boxing are muddled up as it is. You got jerks like JCC Jr. fighting at middleweight when he should be campaigning as a cruiserweight. The true purpose of catchweights is to have two fighters face each other when they're at their limits of weight loss or gain. Example: When Martinez talks about fighting Mayweather. There I can see a catchweight. At some point it's too much weight for Floyd to gain or for Sergio to lose. But just for grins? Nah. Call it a non-title fight, like in the old days.
They are calling Peterson-Matthysse a non-title fight. Just like the old days

Seriously... hate aside. What is the big fucking deal of just making weight at one of the MANY weight divisions? There used to be less divisions in the old days. The number was increased. The difference between divisions is a mere 7 pounds. Forget it's me asking the question. Are catchweights really all that necessary in boxing?

It's all about the bottom line for me now a days. Peterson has a belt that should of been stripped. Matthysse has a belt that shouldn't even fucking exist. It's all bullshit and really I don't give a fuck about it any more. I just wanna see good fights. If a catchweight is required to make a good fight than so be it. Cuz bottom line. Despite the nonsense, this is a good fight.

I hate that boxing organizations are out to ruin boxing. I absolutely hate it. Anything touched by politics immediately goes to hell. That being said, I've also become a big Matthysse fan. I want to see him in good fights no matter what. But I also hate catchweights, because I'm a believer in the good ol' system of weight divisions. Those are the ones that make titles worth a damn. But the IBF's, WBC's, WBO's, WBA's, WBU's, and ABC's of the world are fucking up boxing but good. So whatever. People in boxing want to wrangle over 1-pound differences, interim titles, power struggles... whatever... they can go right ahead. But boxing is suffering because of it. No one's gonna convince me it wasn't better back in the days of true champions in every weight class.
