I predicted that Rigon would beat him.
It was close but he did do enough.

You say tomato,
‘n I say …… it correctly.
Not only was he over hyped but benifitted from fighting smaller washed upguys. Rig schooled him and totally exposed his lack of true craft. Nonitos best and only asset is his power hook. I also witnessed him puss out in the 12th when he got hurt. Mares would totally outbully him and make him quit. Another over hyped filipino puppet of Top Rank gets a fierce beating when put in with top notch talent.

@Andre you may be right, looking at what other people have said I may have seen too much from Donaire and not enough from Rigo. It was not a entertaining fight and I think their styles make up for a dull fight.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I had it close but I gave it to Rigo 7-5 on the cards.
I had it 2-2 after 4 but I didn't once have Donaire ahead in the fight. I should point out that my Sky cut (no signal) 2 minutes into the 11th. At that point I had Donaire winning the round because he'd landed the harder shots but I read reports that Rigo gave him a beating the the last minute so my scored may have changed to 8 rounds to 4. Gave it what I'd seen to that point though.
Just watched the replay of this last night...this fight was not close AT ALL. Were some of you watching the same fight?! Rigo completely outboxed and outclassed Donaire.
Downloaded a torrent of the fight yesterday and have watched it twice. The only rounds I gave Donaire were the second and tenth. Rigo's movement away from the left hook was just too much for him to handle. I can think of only a few times he was even in position to land it, let alone effectively. At times saw Rigo when under pressure and about to be pushed to the ropes land a lead left on the move before pivoting away and under a possible left hook which was nice to see and a sign that he's adding some more wrinkles to his pro game. As for it being a boring fight, yeh some of the middle rounds were absolute stinkers but in my opinion Rigo's entitled to use his low risk style. The guy's risked everything already just to be able to fight pro. He's lost his family, friends and country so if he's got the skills and knowledge to take an early lead on the cards and the champ that's talked all this shit about knocking him out cold doesn't want to take the risks he should be then it's Donaire's fault and no one else's. Plus the times Donaire actually used his much vaunted power Rigo came back harder almost everytime. Rigo is a legend in the making, his ability and story are incredible and if you put him in with the same brawlers Donaire's been in he'd seem entertaining as well. Add the fact that his gold teeth are his Olympiic medals![]()

From another thread:
Talk about nailing it on the head.
A few of us prior to the fight discussed the transfer from amateur to pro. Many on forums dismissed his 400 fights as not applicable.
Looking thru the thread, can't help but notice the hate for Donaire from the usual suspects. Overrated? Off of 1 bad fight? Ok...
All credit to Rigo, who pulled it off. But all this p4p talk is a bit premature, IMO. The guy barely has 10 pro fights. Let him build his pro record a bit more... and then we can talk p4p. Yeah, he made a huge jump with this win, but let's not get hasty and erect a statue just yet.
Donaire is still an elite fighter, and he'll bounce back from this loss. Which by the way, was a convincing win for Rigo. I don't let my preferences color my judgement. Rigo won it going away.
