Tbh I'm having a little bit of an issue with this one. The 141 crap kind of turned me off. No title on the line it would seem because Lucas is worried about his ranking with the Wbc should he have won the Ibf title. The whole thing stinks really.

I've read into it and it was one of the sanctioning bodies that didn't want to have a joint title fight so they had to make it non-title. Wasn't really the fighters fault and one pound for either one is irrelevant.

Its all because of Jose and the WBC. They are against unification. Remember before the Trout/Alvarez fight he said the winner would have 15 days to decide which title he was going to keep.
Its not the first time he's pulled this shit. Of course apparently that rule only applied to Trout because Alvarez has not been forced to decide.

At any rate Lucas is a c-hair away from being the next challenger for the Wbc and if he would have paid his sanctioning fees to the IBF and then went on to beat Lamont he would have lost that ranking.
I guess he prefers the green and gold. Its still a great fight but I just don't get off on the politics

I'm with ya on something smelling bad. I don't care about the trinket but the maneuvering and wink and nod with El heffe Sullied'man and politics is pure manipulation and parlor tricks. Its not a catchweight match...its a good match with a default insurance policy. And yes, winning and losing need to mean something. If you lose, you lose a ranking simple as. If either think they stroll into a immediate title fight if hypothetically they get blown out and owned they already have one knee down in that slugs direction. Jose has def screwed more fighters than he has actual women. If they do keep ranking and guarenteed mega payday for a trinket next up and fans don't call bullshit on it..shame on the fans. As far as the fight I'm with Matthysse big time. Better boxer than credited for and eventually Peterson will square up and hook off his hips when he gets buzzed...and he will be buzzed. He isn't slugging with Khan here. Whole different animal in Matthysse.

Is anyone else skeptical that Lamont Peterson is on drugs for this fight? There was supposed to be 24/7 drug testing and for some unknown reason there wasn't. Peterson has failed drug tests before. Frankly, it sounds like Matthysse is an idiot. He has a shot at a big-money fight with Garcia if he wins, and he doesn't enforce drug testing against Peterson, who is a known cheat?
