Well, that was coming. Purdy did nothing really to suggest he wasn't going to continue to take a beating. He didn't have the power to trouble Alexander, and lacked the workrate to trouble him on points.

I don't blame Barker for pulling him out. Bravery is all well and good, and Purdy could probably have gone on for another five rounds, but apart from continuing the beating what was the point.

Darren Barker had to step in to lead the corner at late notice. I wouldn't disagree with pulling Purdy out, there was no sign he could change anything.

He was landing the odd shot and nothing Alexander was throwing was hurting him. I understand why it was stopped, but I think it was a bad decision. Especially given that Alexander couldn't throw his left hand, not that Barker could have known that.
