its the same with an added tablet style option, which I must admit I just skip past now so there should be an option to just remove it as the main page as the novelty factor wears thin after a day. (and there prob is)
I do however use the tablet style as a start menu button because I was like shit, where is the "cmd" option and my son said just type CMD while on the tablet style and it will show up... the same goes for anything you are looking for so there is no need for a start menu really.
I really think its all down to not knowing how to use it that is causing the negativity.
I'm fairly PC competent but even I struggle with Windows 8. I've had to Google such simple tasks as even turning the thing off. I open pictures and pdf docs and once I'm viewing in the App program I can't get off the screen without hitting the Windows key. I know there's probably a simple way to navigate around Windows 8 but why make it such a fucking mystery?
It probably works better with touch screen and I can appreciate the scope with Apps, but the transition from a well understood OS didn't need to be so drastic. If I was buying I PC tomorrow I'd opt for a machine with Windows 7.
Win8 really clicks with people who are both comfortable with change and willing to spend some time learning how to do all the things they are used to doing. That being said, even if you are both those things, you may or may not like it. To say it's shite is not astute, as it's clearly both loved and hated by many.
