Yeah he was starting to come on but that was a bad count. Listen to these guys saying they have no sympathy. If the reverse happened these guys would be unglued.

I don't think it's shady, just bad call by the ref. Rematch in the US would be a fair way to redress it. Won't happen though, and I don't think it would if the situation had been reversed.

Yeah but it leaves the door open to speculation and saying that derek needed the refs help and shit, I really think he was going to grind out the victory without leaving room for speculation as it stands that was a horrendous fuck up by the ref....almost as bad as the ref tat counted kermit out against sergio and then let it continue...

You are right, it was a big fuck up by the ref you can see it in his eyes and demeanour afterwards. Del may have stopped him anyway but we will probably never find out now.

Saunders has fast hands, but he has to work really hard to make opponents lose heart. That lack of power affects his stamina.

I was right. O'Sullivan is terrible and Saunders is proving it.

I think that is a little unkind to Billy, he could make better fighters look poor with his skills and speed.

It isn't. Billy is a decent fighter, but there is absolutely nothing impressive about Gary O'Sullivan. Buncey before hand was saying "I don't know why everyone thinks this will be a gimme for Billy Joe". It is simple, everyone thought it would be because it is. Gary is going nowhere. Eubank Jr. would've been a better test.

I missed the Chisora KO, I just got back home and found a shitty feed to this Saunders-osullivan fight. Saunders is way too much for this guy.

    RE: The count in Chisora-Scott.

He rose at 9. That is not good enough. You do not get 10 seconds to get up, you get 10 seconds to be up and show the ref you are ready to fight. It's an unsatisfactory end but adhering to the rules. That is why every fighter in history gets up at 8 if they are able to.

    BBBC's rules of boxing-
3.33.2 If a Boxer regains his feet in the boxing ring within the specified intervals (10 seconds) but fails to satisfy the Referee that he is in a position and condition to defend himself, the Referee shall stop the Contest and deduct ten points from this score. He shall award the opponent ten points and declare him the winner.

i.e. you do not have 10 seconds to get up, you have 10 seconds to get up and show the ref you are ready and able to continue. It's annoying but it is what it is.

It's a judgment call. He was up at 9. That much is clear from the replays. If the referee decided that he was not in a condition to defend himself, I can't fault him for stopping the contest. However, I didn't see the referee examine him at all to see if he was in a condition to defend himself. Further, from where I was sitting he appeared ready to defend himself. He got up fast. He had never been knocked down in the fight. He doesn't have a history of stoppages. I would have let him fight. But, I wasn't the third man in the ring.

I thought the announcers and referee were arguing that he wasn't up at 9, which clearly was the case, not that he wasn't in a condition to defend himself. If that was their argument, they were wrong.
