Default Ever hear of James "The Heat" Kinchen?

    James Kinchen - Boxer

Here he is battering and dropping Tommy Hearns. He lost an MD to him apparently and a SD to Iran Barkley. He was also stopped early by Prince Charles Williams and Virgil Hill.

I'd never heard of this fella, but saw him on Tuesday night fights knockouts and was impressed.

    Kinchen was good.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

I saw him fight a number of times. Out of san Diego, I think. Looked real good early in his career. If my memory is correct many people thought he beat Hearns- that fight was noteworthy because it was the only time Hearns ever hung on to avoid being stopped. Kinchen didn't finish well, either.
What held him back, I think, was a tendency to get lazy in fights and stop throwing punches. That is my memory but I haven't seen him fight or thought about him in years. looking at his record it kind of suprises me that he beat Mrvin mack- I wouldn't have thought he'd beat a tough, busy guy like that, moving up in weight.

Didn't he go like 36-0 or 38-0 before he lost?

Spot on, I think Tommy edged it, but I am bias! Kinchen was pretty flaky and as you suggest after a hot start to his career, he was brought in as cannon fodder for Hearns. And got shots at Williams and Hill because of that performance. Hill flattening him a round was a bit of a stunner...

Kitchen was found to have a banned drug in his system after the Hearns fight , he was battered by Roldan , by the time Hill got to him he was done.

Had never heard of him. Like that lead right he throws though, almost snaps it like a jab over the top, pretty slick. Had Hearns right fucked there, and the ref wasn't giving him a fair shake to finish it imo. Hearns was holding on for dear life well beyond the clinch and deserved to lose at least a point more than he did and sooner.

I was glad Hearns held and got the decision. Leonard thought he could take Hearns after this I think.
