Watched Adjustment Bureau with my kids as a change of pace from the action movies we have been watching. Trying to get them acclimated to science fiction.

It was way too much love story for me, although chemistry between Matt Damon and Emily Blunt was great. i wanted it to have a little more sci-fi in it, given it was based on a Philip K. Dick story, Adjustment Team (some of his stories adapted for big screen include: Blade Runner, Minority Report, and at least 1-2 more which I don't recall now).

But if looking for a date movie, go watch this. If you are looking for a hard sci-fi movie, skip this.

The only reason why i watched this at all (not a big Matt Damon fan, will watch his movies if i have it) was that it came out about the same time I watched Inception. there was a part in the commercial/trailer which seemed to mess with reality making me think Inception.

Oblivion. 7/10. Would be much higher if the story were not quite so thin. I found the twist-type ending pretty obvious from the beginning. Visually stunning film though, if you like that type of thing you might rate it higher.

21 and over - good movie, wild and over the top like American Pie, or the Hangover.

Default Watching movies with my 10 yr old son

Behind my back, my wife signed my son up for karate lessons. He doesn't like it, I think it's the years of pampering by my wife. I am a little upset at my wife as I would've wanted either wrestling, boxing, judo, bjj, fma, or wing chun instead.

He's 10 yrs old, and I've started watching movies with him that when he was younger, my wife would always tell me, don't let our kids watch that (I watch mostly action movies). Although I was able to sneak in:
    • Ip Man 1-2,
    • Legend of the Fist: Return of Chen Zhen,
    • Return of the Dragon,
    • Game of Death (Bruce Lee not Wesley Snipes),
    • Tom Yum Goong aka The Protector,
    • Police Story 1,
    • Police Story 3 aka Supercop,
    • Armor of God
    • Drunken Fist aka Drunken Master aka Drunken Tiger in Monkey's Eye.

Since it's summer vacation and no school for him, I've been able to watch movies with him.

    We watched so far:

    • Expendables 1-2 (OMG! Nan Yu! ROTTY!)
    • Terminator 2-4 (OMG! Moon Bloodgood! ROTTY!)
    • Taken 1-2
    • Batman Begins; The Dark Knight; The Dark Knight Rises
    • Jack Reacher

    • Jack the Giant Slayer
    • Warm Bodies
    • Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (OMG! Gemma Arterton! ROTTY!)
    • Adjustment Bureau
    • Oz the Great and Powerful
    • Prometheus

    • Chinese Zodiac 12 (aka CZ12 aka Armor of God 3 aka Operation Condor 2 (and Operation of Condor is really Armor of God 2)
    • 36th Chamber of Shaolin AKA Master Killer
    • Enter the Dragon
    • Fearless
    • Fist of Legend
    • Mad Monkey Kung Fu (didn't finish)

Generally we liked the movies we watched. He is more critical and thinking throughout the movie as he watches it unlike me who just sits there and gets wrapped up into the movie and turn my geek/critical mind (my mind is pretty weak to begin with) off. So glad to know he's smarter than me!

Some of the movies, my wife joined in, some of the movies, his 2 older sisters joined in. But for the most part, it has been father and son bonding over generally testosterone/adrenaline movies (warm bodies & adjustment bureau were 2 that were not).

I'm going to watch soon with him:
    • Flash Point (Donnie Yen),
    • Five Venoms aka Five Deadly Venoms,
    • Invincible Shaolin (5 Venoms gang),
    • Martial Club (Gordon Liu),
    • Shaolin vs Ninja aka Heroes of the East (Gordon Liu),
    • Once Upon a Time in China 1-3,
    • Rocky 1 and maybe 2-4
    • First Blood and maybe Rambo 2-3
    • Conan the Barbarian (with Arnold)
    • and sadly Terminator 1 (yeah watched out of sequence).

I may try to expand his SciFi more with:
    • Mad Max 1,
    • Road Warrior aka Mad Max 2,
    • Robocop

    He's slowly Man-ing Up!! WOOHOO!

p.s. Yesterday was Terminator Salvation aka T4 - we both liked it but felt with some of the different models of Terminators and Hunter-Killers were ridiculous.

I have no idea whether or not your movie watching will end up beneficial to your son but I like the bonding you have.

    (he'll probably despise action/fighting movies when he's older )

Thats a pretty violent list of films to watch with a 10 yr old. Doesn't leave a lot for him to look forward to when he is older.

Mrs. SG pampered him too much, being the youngest of our 3 kids. Need him to man-up and hope these movies will do it.
