Barker or Geale ?

Barker is the better boxer but Geale is tougher. I really hope Barker wins but I keep seeing him fold late, either costing him the decision or getting stopped.

If it was in Oz i'd fancy Geale. England Barker. The US not sure

As @Silkeyjoe and @IamInuit point out, there really are multiple ways this one could go. Is Barker or Geale overrated? If we are going on resume, we have to lean Geale. He might be a class above Barker. On the other hand, this might be Barker's time to shine. Although he lost against Maravilla, at least for the first half of the fight, he wasn't blown out of the water. Also, he should have the big stage nervousness worked out now because he's been there before. That's why this fight is close in the betting books. I'm hype on this one. Actually, this whole HBO card is fun - Cleverly v. Kovalev and Barker v. Geale.

I don't see Geale stopping Barker. Maybe that is just me. I can see Barker stopping Geale, but I don't think it's likely. I think this one goes the distance.

I didnt say its anything to be ashamed of Im just pointing out that he folded before and is very possible he will fold again. I hope Barker wins as I really want a British middleweigh champ so there could be some big fights in England and I might be able to get over for a few of them but I think Geale is just a level above Barker.

Not sure how you've worked out fighting Geale is a step-up from Martinez or where the lack of heart and chin came from? This is a man that jumped in to stop a stranger getting killed from a gang and ended up getting a hiding himself. Some lack of heart.

Geale's a solid fighter with good fundamentals, attitude and work ethic but for me he just lacks that special something. Where a fighter doesn't have great speed he usually makes up for it with power and/or chin. I might be wrong but I'm yet to see that with him.

Where did I say Geale was a step up from Martinez? All I have ever said is Geale is a huge step up from anyone Barker has beaten before.

I explained the lack of chin and heart based on how he folded against Martinez.

Stepping in in a street fight is different to refusing to get beat in the later rounds of the fight.

You didn't say that but fair enough, if that's what you meant then I agree Geale is better than anyone Barker has beaten.

I also agree he folded mentally against Martinez, but after the first few rounds Martinez was playing with him. He lost because he wasn't in Martinez class not through a lack of heart.

I haven't heard about that (or have and forgot). When was that? Before he was known?

It was just a few years ago. It went to court, Barker was awarded damages and praised for his bravery. About a dozen bods attacked him with bottles and stuff after he stopped some of them from duffing another bloke.
