Really happy for Darren. Chuffed for all the British fans on here who told everyone he'd beat Geale as well. Me & @Greenbeanz told you all before the fight was even made that if he got the shot against Geale he'd win it. I wouldn't fancy him against any of the other 3, but I always felt he'd take this one.

Still can't bring yourself to give Barker any credit? First he should batter Macklins mouth shut or freeze him out for thinking he is a league above him. Murray would be a big domestic fight. Quillin ain't all that. Sturm the mandatory is eminently beatable. Great performance by Darren, revealing the ability to stick to a gameplan that involved avoiding a lot of his natural tendencies and attributes. Certainly has the mental toughness many insisted he didn't and has proven that he is the most complete boxer in the domestic 4. Very close fight. Geale was just edged out by a man who would not be denied.

Well written, but I've got to take issue with this -
'Like so many fighters based in Britain and Europe, there are a whole lot of names on his record you don’t recognise. And, when you get to the one or two names you do, there is invariably an ‘L’ next to it'.

Is that as opposed to the plethora of Australian fighters out there beating loads of top names?
I'm not very patriotic when it comes to boxing but seriously Britain has had a fair bit more success than Australia over the years.

Barker was never the typical flash cockney, ever. Denis Waterman would have needed his own Minder before confronting Barker and even his brother ( a fine boxer) Pete (R.I.P) would have struggled to sort out Darren. It 's a good article, but you need to eat a bit more humble pie if you want us to swallow the fanciful notion that British and European Boxers are somehow exclusively fed a diet of nobodies before fighting for a world title. Maybe you should try some Yoga and practise taking a deep breath before assuming stuff next time.
