Popping in and out of bookies and occasionally giving some mobster types the slip down an alley.

You're telling me you're a regular bloke with a job?

There's your problem right their. Grab em while they are fresh and warm. Top of the head off like a hard boiled egg, then tuck right in. Num, yum.

Why "num, yum"? Is that some sort of trying to be cute? Because it wasn't. Plenty of people were fucking scalped Beanz, over the years, by lawless, violent people, and some people are very sensitive to that, Beanz. You should tread carefully on this subject of "topping off the head" and I found "num, yum" just completely over the line there. How could you denigrate all those who have wrongfully been scalped or lopped-off or even lobotomized? It is beyond decent. It is deplorable and should be condemned, cut off at the pass, before it gets out of hand. We as a forum cannot tolerate head-lopping-off stories or even innuendos that it could be delicious. You should at the very least said something like "mmm, mmmm" or I could see "yummy", but then 1 syllable expressions of deliciousness could be taken as more dastardly by a chosen few here. Perhaps in retrospect you HAVE done an acceptable job with "num, yum". Yeah, I was wrong. Sorry Beanz.

I think its more to do with the time from hook to plate than it is access to salt water, although naturally those in larger water do grow to a much larger size. Personally I enjoy both, with a good trout well prepared on the barbecue difficult to beat!

That's what I said, rhun... freshness. No way a person living in Kansas will ever appreciate the truly magnificent taste of a broiled red snapper, as much as someone on a Caribbean island, with access to seafood restaurants serving up the catches of the day. And size of the fish has little to do with taste, IMO. Personally, when I'm in the mood for a whole snapper, anything from a 3 to a 5-pound fish will do.
Normally as we tend to have better freshwater fish in this area (I know a few poachers who work the local rivers!) those seem to do the business for me, but equally when I was on holiday on the Mexican coast, the fish there were also awesome. And of course, the ceviche in that part of the world was delectable.

    Ahhhhhhh..... ceviche.
    Fresh, well-made ceviche is other-wordly.

Damn... just finished eating a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch.

You can't beat a proper pasty.

Gregg's is not a proper pasty, Gregg's is shit. A proper pasty is uneven and rough around the edges.

I love a good burger, but mostly everyone sells cheap, frozen, 10% meat burgers.

I havent had a juicy Lucy in ages actually, its a bad ass burger. Google it if you have never had one. Ive never seen one sold in the UK though.

This is the worry I have about local pasties. They seem to be very symmetrical, like a baseball with a flat side. They used to be much larger and more folded over. And now you can get them with gravy and that is ok because everything is better with gravy. But I think a pasty topped with chili is dodgy.

Gravy is good. Goes with anything.

Brock, what the fuck is that? Looks like the sort of thing I could imagine you would keep as a pet.
