If Canelo "deserved" a shot at Mayweather (he really didn't), surely Manny Pacquiao does also.
I never felt Canelo deserved a shot, but credit to Mayweather cause it is the fight that a lot of fight fans and writers were calling for now and he delivered, but my beef is that Manny was the one holding up the fight to begin with, he's the one that has slipped, he's the one who wants the fight now, so he should have to work up to getting it and show Mayweather a reason to pick it up, Manny NEEDS to beat Rios impressively if he wants to continue his career as a top fighter

All good points. Manny's stock has fallen, to be sure. He does need an impressive victory over Rios to get back in Floyd-Manny conversations. It's the part about fight fans and writers clamoring for a Floyd-Canelo fight. All that does is point out the fact that boxing can be 90% hype... 10% earned credentials. Canelo was a TV hype job... clear and simple. The good looking, red-haired Mexican boy with looming soap opera contracts and a huge female fan base. The second coming of Oscar. You yourself know his bloated record was filled with bums and washed-up fighters. All Floyd did was say, "Ok... I'll whip this guy's ass, and if that's who they think is going to take my "0", I'll be glad to play along with the hype." Manny's stock is down... but he's had a stellar career already. Canelo was rushed into a mega-fight without the goods..... OR the resume. It's JCC Jr. all over again. All hype... and then gets schooled when he finally gets gifted a shot at the big time.
