    Hey... the gang's all here.
After we're done ruining THIS thread, I say we make another one in "Let's Get it On", and go to town.

    What say, guys?

Shut the fuck up bitch. Stop wasting time. Get on with the Rodriguez was a real good fighter nonsense who fought his heart out and went out on his shield.

Taking shots on your tonsils from Canelo's and Junior's members is beginning to affect your eyesight.
Tell where you saw me say that Delvin was competitive.

    I'll wait.

Cotto is one of the very best fighters we have seen over the past decade and a bit. Nice to see a fighter's fighter doing his work.

Does Cotto go for canelo at 154? Or move up to 160 and challenge Martinez?

Great question. I think the Pr/Mex thing make Alvarez the desired opponent and the money is probably much better based on that fact. Legacy wise I suppose you make a play for Martinez who is a small middle and held to be the man.

Roach seems keen for Martinez and legacy wise it will be a good
Move for Cotto. Either fight will be exciting though.

Makes sense and is still decent money with the added legacy. Alvarez really has not beaten anybody. Oh I'm sure the take would be huge but Cotto would be fighting in Alvarez a younger stronger version of himself. I'm also sure that thee resident problem will be quite sickened by this comparison. Frankly, I could give a shit. Tax man gets less coin with Martinez and he does something special.

It was a solid showing but I'd like to see Cotto, more so his people, keep a level head and rebuild steady at 154. At least another step before he thinks of a Alvarez...frankly Alvarez needs to reboot also. Cotto did exactly as he should have vs a slow starter with a leaky defense and a willingness to fight fire with fire but no way is he can he climb in a time warp and erase the wear and years. I think the Martinez thinking is a bridge too far for him, maybe a Trout rematch. Molina has a trinket that might make a good door prize is he tied to Showtime?

I love Cotto but people, chill. This fight is the perfect example why aggressive fighters are always over rated and boxers under rated. Aggressive fighters look great against inferior competition. I'll give you an example, Floyd is the best fighter in the world, does anyone think he would have dismantled Rodriguez in 3?

    The good
They had a good gameplan for this fight.
Cotto got back to his bread and butter
    Physically Cotto looked great

    The bad
Cotto had made serious strides on defense, I'm not sure if it was the lack of respect for the opponent or how Roach completely ignores any work on defense but Cottos defense looked awful. If he had been in with a person fighting back he would have taken serious punishment because he was wide open.

    My prediction
Cotto looks great unless he steps back up. If he steps up the competition he will look great for a few rounds but the typical Roach disregard for D will cost him. Cotto isn't durable enough for that. He'll start feeling the shots by round 4, slow the attack down and be in survival mode by round 9

I don't say this not to diss Cotto, he's a great champion who I have great respect for. But we've seen this rebirth meme played out a thousand times in boxing to sell the exciting fighters. It doesn't pan out, in the end they are what they are except more shop worn.

*Doesn't need to, there's a lot to be done at 147... Bronner, Maybe Garcia moves up, there's still a re-match with Trout, ..there's more comp at 147 than at anything over 150..where he's at a disadvantage anyway.. if Cotto is gunna look like this, 147 is where he belongs.

He's already at 154 and I doubt he makes 147 anymore safely. Garcia is not moving up that far and Broner is still talking about going down to defend his 135 tin. But again I just dont see Cotto fighting at 147. He might attempt it for a rematch with Floyd or Manny but I doubt it.

I'm not buying into the hype of a Cotto "re-birth" if he fights Canelo or Martinez or Floyd II he's going to have trouble.

Agreed. I didn't see any rebirth of Cotto. What I saw was him being spoonfed a very outmatched opponent which made him look good but let's not make out he made some kind of statement.

He did what he should have done vs that calibre of opposition. He did well vs floyd who was trying to fight a fan friendly style that night which didn't work for him. Once he realised he wasn't good enough to fight that way he reverted to his boxing and movement ever since.

A return with Cotto would go the same way
