Maybe this is a mismatch that I shouldnt even have made a thread about.

Come to think of it, it's man vs 5"7 midget with short arms, something u might see on spike channel..

Vargas was too big and too skilled for cotto.. in pro boxing, great big man always beats the good little man.

agreed, how the hell Cotto would lose to the juiced up Vargas who got his ass whooped by DLH is beyond me, juiced up on roids and in his prime and still couldn't get the job done lol dunno why you'd even pick the 02 version of Fernando haha he had looked like crap in the two fights leading up to DLH (Flores and Rivera), if a bum like Rivera was able to floor him, that's all I have to say about his chin.., but yea it's a case of Future HOF'er vs the guy who was at that point the youngest 154 lb champion in history (he isn't anymore) and didn't ever live up to the potential people put on him

Are we talking todays Cotto and at the same time saying Vargas was crap leading into the Oscar fight? If it goes further back prior to both taking thrashings in hypothetical I think Vargas gets him even more.

Bums don't beat Pernell Whitaker twice. I know now that your Filipino, you're no longer overrating Puerto Rican fighters. Which is good. But try watching the fighter first before labeling him. It boggles the mind how someone can call Delvin Rodriguez a good journeyman. And than labels Rivera a bum. Which is worse than a journeyman. Rivera would embarrass Rodriguez

5 yrs prior and at a weight where Whitaker was well pretty much crap, the only good showing Whitaker had at 147 was when he beat De La Hoya, coincidentally DLH and Mosley had both beat the shit out of him without being dropped like Vargas was

are you seriously arguing that there is nothing special about specifically Vargas in 02? which was by no means a standout year in his career, hell pre-Trinidad Vargas would of had it a 50/50 fight against Cotto, but after Trinidad ruined him Vargas never managed to beat any top fighter of note, unless you want to count Castillejo hahaha

Vargas would destroy him in a very bad way at light middle, but Cotto's best weight was at 140lb.

Nah I think he was best at 147. At 140 he was weight drained

For once in your pathetic life be real. Wilfredo Rivera was a way better fighter than Delvin Rodriguez. Anybody with half a brain knows that. You lust for Cotto that you call Rodriguez a good journeyman to elevate his win over him. And you call Wilfredo Rivera a bum to downgrade Vargas win over him. It's just to easy to see through your punk ass
